Hi all! I just wanted to share a fun experience while on Kilimanjaro Safaris.
I was in WDW not too long ago, and the people I was with were very excited to go on the Safari. We had boarded our safari vehicle, and we started off on our tour. Soon after the start of the ride, we reached the savannah (where many giraffes vacate). We saw a species of cattle, and one giraffe all feeding. Suddenlu, two of the cattle stopped in front of our vehicle. We waited for a few minutes ( a great photo op) but it wouldn't move... There were at least 3 or 4 (that I could see) ride vehicles backing up behind us. Finally, our driver called in the ranger and within a minute, two women pulled up in a pickup truck, called the cattle by name, and it slowly moved from in front of our car. As we started our journey, we couldn't help but laugh. Personally, my car doesn't get held up by cattle every day!
So now, if you've had any funny animal experiences on Kilimanjaro Safaris, or anywhere else in AK, just share it on this thread!

3 years ago, we had a road block as well..... a white rhino sort of chraged our vehicle and would not move. He was standing so close to the side of our car, i could have grabbed his horn. The Driver rocked slightly back and forth and FINALLY he backed up. It was kinda scary as he was right by me.... got a great photo thought.... so close i could not even fit his entire face in the shot.
This year I was dissappointed as our driver went SOOOOOO fast we could not get good shots of anything... even the 4 month old giraffe that was just out side my window was nothing but a blur. I know there are cars waiting to go, but we actually want to SEE the animals not just race by them!

It isn't really a funny story but we had a giraffe blocking the way and when it moved it was so close I could have reached out and touched it, it was very cool
It's our problem-free philosophy HakunaMatata! I've been to Disney World 22 times and can't wait to go back!
Ok, one time I went on KS there was this stupid lady sitting behind us. She was probably drinking because she had a mug filled withsomething that smelled awful. The lady was so anoying, during the whole ride she kept saying the animals were fake and animatronic. I'm like hello there eating and walking in different places every time you ride it.I was getting so annoyed, I wanted to turn around and say, " Hey lady, you think those animals are animatronic. Why don't you get off touch one of them( I'd prefer the lion, rhino, or croc..lol) and you see what happens. Uhhh...I had stupid people!

I took a behind the scenes tour of KS mainly to see the lions up close only to find out that the lions were the only animals we had to see like everyone else. Anyway, the lions seem to always be in the same place, usually on top of a rock, laying down. The CM on the tour told us that they have air conditioning vents there for the lions and they love the cool air so much, they never leave. Of course, these vents are well hidden to guests. I also noticed that many of the trees are fancy stroage sheds. I have a pic somewhere.
did anyone of you guys do rhino rally at busch gardens? just like KS
I think it's better in some ways....It's one of my favourites rides in Florida.

On our last trip to disney we had a private ride on kilimanjaro safaris. We always try to be the first people to all of the parks, and we were the first to get to Animal Kingdom. About 20 minutes before the park opened, a CM came up to us and let us through the gate and told us we were getting a private kilimanjaro ride. It was awesome! He went really slow and the animals came right up to us. It was also really great because since we were the only ones there, we got to ask a lot of questions about all of the animals. I hope this happens again!
The last couple of times my parents went to disney, they go all the time now that kids are out of the house, LOL, they had giraffes basically try to get in the car with them. She has a great picture of one right in front of her.
