    Guidebooks

    Hey,
I bought a guidebook this past week and I've been reading it. What I've noticed is that it tells you what time to go on the rides and almost everyone of them says before 10 AM or an hour before the park closes. How is this helpful?? What are you suppose to do in the middle of the day?
I love WDW it's the most magical place on earth!!!

According to those same type books, you need to go back and take a nap during that time. It's okay for us with little ones, but without kids we don't do that. Fastpasses are the best bet.

I have spent two night reading this entire thread...WOW, I have so many things to do and see I filled up two more pages of my special WDW Vacation Book, that I carry around all the time just in case I can think of new things to look up or just things I need to purchase for my trip...I want to give you guys a "tip" for all who are celebrating a birthday for a child at the World...

I went to my local Disney store and to Hallmark stores and purchased cards or postcards that coinsided with all the dinning reservations we have and I am planning to put it under my childs pillow basically inviting her to have dinner with that character!

Example: I have res for Akershus Royal Banquet with the Princesses so I bought a poscard (with the princesses on it) and wrote: "Hi..welcome to Disney, glad to see you're here on your Birthday, We would al like to have you as our guest in the Norway Castel, see you there...wish on a star, Love the Disney Princesses"

I'm sure my daughter willl love it, and like that I did it for all eight days of our stay, I basically will celebrate her birthday eight days straight becasue the characters have invited her for dinner. The kicker is that I ordered a special cake to sing to her at the dinner and she wil love it..

I wish I was little girl again...accually I'm glad I'm not...now I make all my daughters wishes come true...

7 more days till my trip starts...

I'm new here and just finished reading 49 pages! (I am a Disney nut) I had so much fun reading all the great tips and will definately use them when I go this year.
Had a kinda neat thing to share...not so much of a secret as a special Disney moment.....

When we went in October we saw this guy walking around in MGM who looked like he came right out of a 1960's movie. He was wearing plaid and a top hat and had a briefcase. My little brother went up and started talking to him and the guy was showing him what was inside his briefcase and just talking with him. He was obviously an actor but it was a really special touch to our day and I would encourage you to talk to him if you see him.

**The picture attached was when we told him to "Just act Natural"**

    Greetings!

Wow, let me finally say that I have finished reading this entire thread. and just like a few posts above me, I CAN"T WAIT for my trip to WDW. *June 26th-July 2nd*

One of the greatest secrets, I want everyone to explore is the recently developed (in 2005) its VMK.com Virtual Magic Kingdom, is by far one the greatest treasures I have experienced. The park quests they give out, are truly trivial and fun. Even at 18 years of age, I am so proud to have had the opportunity to talk with the creators of VMK, and its one the reasons I am embarking on the Disney College program next semester. VMK is a true treat, and I would love to help anyone out with the game, questions and or comments.

I just bought both books for 20.00 I can't believe they were that cheap, and I hope they come in before my trip, it will provide me with airplane readings... I have never flown before, and I have a fear of flying, so I purchased these books in efforts to calm me down.

Something I want to ask you guys, I went to Disneyworld last year, during this exact same time. And I rode the TTA probabaly 30 times, because it was great to just relax. However me and my girlfriend were the last to ride it, and the lights were never on for Space Mountain, is this something they've stopped, or I was just unlucky?

Thank you so much, this is now one of my favorite boards, of all time. well aside from vmkmagic where I work at. but thats a different story!

    Cheers,
    AF

I have a great tip. But I would only do it if you have seen the light parade atleast twice. When the SpectroMagic parade is going on head straight over to Fantasy Land. We tried this just a couple years ago and it worked great! You can ride all of the rides that most of the time during the day the little kids are on. Such as The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, It's a Small World, and Dumbo. It's also a good idea to hit the mountains at this time too. We walked right into Splash Mountain and up to the logs! It was great! Hope this helps!

As far as I know, the lights in Space Mountain are only on during park hours when it breaks down and they need to address issues to get it back up and escort guests that are stuck on the ride.

I've actually had a discussion with someone recently (well... my mom actually) who kind of said basically the same thing you are: If you've only got a day or a couple days to spend in the parks, wouldn't you want to spend every waking moment there soaking up all there is to do?

My answer to this is yes... but that is assuming that you do only have a limited time there and you have the endurance and the means to stay all day. Sometimes, like for example if you're traveling with small kids that tired and cranky by mid day, a quick trip back to your resort to cool off in the AC, eat a non-theme park lunch, take a dip in the hotel pool, etc... then go back out and hit the parks again around 7 or so when it's cooler and (maybe?) less busy (that's going to depend on where you are trying to go at night). I personally love to abandon the parks partway through the day, take a break, go do something refreshing or mix things up a bit, and come back. But then again, I'm also one of the lucky few who get to go all the time, so losing a few hours out of a sinlge day at one of the theme parks isn't a big deal to me. I've also been blessed to have been able to stay at some pretty nice places on some of my last couple trips (my last one especially), that are incredibly convenient for this exact kind of logic I am talking about.

But, like I just pointed out, this works best assuming you are staying at a convenient and close-by on-property resort where you have Disney transportation to take you wherever it is you need to go. I know that if I was staying at a local budget motel attempting to lure you in with the promise of free continental cockroaches (uhh.. i mean, breakfast?), there's no way in Hades that I'm getting the heck out of Dodge to go hop back in my 110+ degree car and spend my own gas money to drive back off property for a slightly cheaper bite to eat and the air conditioning of my motel room in Dullsville. I'd rather stand in line for a broken down Peter Pan's Flight for 4 1/2 hours during the peak of the mid-day Florida heat than leave to go do that. Or stab myself dutifully in the eye with a dull spoon every fifteen or twenty minutes... it can't possibly be any worse than knowing I ditched out on Disney for a nice "relaxing" swim in the sun-drenched puddle out back in the mud that they call the "inground heated swimming pool".

It all depends on how you're visiting Disney I guess. If you have some time to spare, and you're staying close and at a nice place, or perhaps if there's other things you've like to get done while you're there, such as maybe shopping at Downtown Disney or catching a good hearty meal at a great non-theme park restaurant or buffet, then there's no reason why not to ditch the park when the crowds get to be too much and the heat is borderline suffocating. Come back later, andif you are staying at a Disney resort, you can make up for some of those lost mid-day hours by taking fuller advantage of Disney's Extra-Magic Hours both in the morning and evening if you like.

Otherwise... I agree completely with my mom. Why the heck would you want to leave?

    Thumbs down Anyone else

"I only hope that we don't lose sight of one thing - that it was all started by a mouse."

This what disneyfanatic101's signature is...does anyone else think that this is just becoming a saying, and not what disney is all about anymore? With Pirates of the Caribbean ride being changed to be like the movie to me is just kinda lame. I know I'm not the only one that feels that the original PoTC is way better. Does anyone else feel this at all?
