I go to school so I can only go during the summer and since we are on a military salary we can only go once a year. I personally prefer the heat over the cold anyday! I live in Virginia and in the winter it is freezing and in the summer it is burning up so I really don't care for the heat as long as there is not long lines!

We always go in May. 2008 we're going the first week in October.

Crowd wise it was great when we went last week. The longest wait I ever saw was for the safari at AK....that one is always long to begin with and it was only 70 min....as compared to the 2 hours I've seen before. We walked right onto ToT in the middle of the afternoon.
However my FAV time is x-mas as I love all the amazing decorations.

personaly i think the best time to go is between halloween and christmas, believe it or not, it's really not crowded at all, also the first couple weeks in january are good too, last year we rode all three mountains 5 or 6 times without even leaving our seats. went through the HM a handful of times too. This was all on MLK day

May! Go while the kids are still in school before the summer crowds.
Went on the day after thanksgiving one year and the park was bliss.

Before I became a DVC member I used to always go down in the begining of January. It was the only way I could afford to go (value season). Plus I am not a crowd person. The one thing I noticed is that the wait times at the MK always seemed to be on average longer then the other parks.

We are going next in February though, so I hope it is just as great.
I agree totally. I've been to WDW in July, October, December, February, March and May. Although going for the 4th of July was exciting, it was also very crowded and very hot. February was pretty good, but I don't recall there being any special events going on. December is very festive and I love the Festival of Lights. (We've only been there prior to the big Christmas crunch. March was a bit cool. I do love going in May, but that's because it gives me a chance to celebrate my birthday with Mickey. October is my favorite for the same reasons listed above, and the weather can still hit the high 80's and low 90's.
