I don't buy the story line. It is annoying.
the story line was created just so that they could get Disney film characters into this attraction... apparently they thought it drive up popularity for it... they forgot that it actually takes a good storyline to make ppl want to go see it...

I have to say I think Alien Encounter was a loss, because although it didn't really seem to "fit" at WDW, it kind of showed what they could come up with that was really dark in concept. Kind of like an "aren't you glad we use our powers for good." type of thing. It was just another side we don't really see. But the biggest loss has to be WOL because it is such a waste to not have anything to replace it. I'd rather see a not so great attraction than an empty building.

i agree... WoL is a terrible renovation... because there never was one... unless you count a fresh coat of whit paint covering everything there...

I can't stand SE on the descent now. It's just so boring! I know there's the computer screen activity but that would have been a neat addition, not replacement. I really miss having something else to do/look at. Surely they could have done something to guess what's coming in the future or something... or maybe they could have gone a bit further into the development of technology then the invention of a computer in a garage. What about the web? What about the smartphones? Internet connected TV? There's just so much else that's happened and surely they could have included some of it.

I totally see your point and I do agree somewhat. But I think part of the not going farther with the internet, smartphones, etc. is that they didn't want to date it like the old version with the videochatting or perhaps like the final scene in CoP. They didn't want it to be old in 5 years...just a thought.

You're probably right in that they didn't want to date it. I can certainly understand that. I guess I'm just grasping at straws out of a desperate wish that they had done SOMEthing. Just about anything would have been better than the nothing that currently surrounds your time travel vehicle.

Yes...to me both the old JiI and Horizons embodied the vision of Future World as a place of hope and possibility - a glimpse into a future of potential and wonder. To me, the loss of those two rides and their concepts exemplify what I feel Future World has lost - hope. I feel as though "Future World" has become "today world," filled with a focus on the present instead of a vision for the future. We've lost the guidance of the benevolent Dreamfinder who channels the enthusiasm of Figment and the wonderful visions of possibility for tomorrow offered by Horizons. I agree - the heart and soul of Future World is fading fast...
... it faded long ago...
Disney doesnt have the innovative minds they once had... no one knows what the future may bring anymore...

I really miss the old TTA voice and spiel. I just got back from disney about a week ago and we went on the TTA and it was like.....WHAT?!? How could they change it! I really miss the "Now approaching Space Mountain" voice and the new voice is very generic. To me it lacks the magic it had before the refurb and it just doesnt feel the same. It isnt horrible, I just really miss the old version. I probably would pick one of the other choices but I never experienced some of them.
