I had never been on JII before until last month, so I have no attachment to Figment or Dreamfinder (but I am a HUGE Eric Idle fan so I love him in the ride as Dr. Channing). So obviously I love the ride the way it is so I wouldn't want to change it. If they could somehow reintroduce Dreamfinder while not loosing the other two characters (Dr. Channing and Figment) that would be great. I guess we'll see as the 25th anniversary comes up.

If so, it seems like it wouldn't hurt them to add Dreamfinder and try to give the ride some new energy. I'd heard rumors about this being possible to correspond with the 25th anniversary of EPCOT next year.

You are so right! The new version of the ride lacks appeal for most visitors... fans of Figment and Dreamfinder are left to say "Wow, that was so not what it used to be." and new riders are left with a "Huh? What? Wow that was short and seemed to not flow together at all." feeling.

Every time I've ridden since the refurb there have been very few folks in my "train". The only time I rode when I had a wait at all was the month the attraction re-opened (after adding Figment back in) and even then the wait was only about 5 minutes. So yes... very commonplace.

And you're right - the big rumor for Epcot's 25th is that they are bringing the attraction back to it's original glory, both the ride and the upstairs Imageworks (that is still there and just really dusty). Problem is... that's 10 months away and it's not closed, even seasonally, so the hopes are becoming thinner and thinner.

I do miss Dreamfinder and Figment together. That was one of the best attractions there. My little girls LOVE Figment, and it would be wonderful if they could get Dreamfinder back in. And, the last time I rode the new JII, we were the only ones on there.

You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.

I agree Dan when we went last summer there were 4 people on the ride not including us,And to make it even more ridicluos when we got there the CM's STARTED the ride! Yes, it appears that no one had been on the ride for so long that the shut it down completly.
I just love World of Warcraft.

I forget where I heard this, and looked at pictures (it was ether here for another site I go on) that the dreamfinder found a new home in the Haunted Masion in Paris, I believe, I'm going to go look and see if I can find it now. But I agree, I was only like 5 or 6 when I rode the verson with the dreamfinder, and I really miss it.

Here it is! It was a old thread on here, my post count is only 4, so I can't post the link yet. But search "dreamfinder haunted mansion paris" in the search box on here, its the 2nd one done "dream finder is truely dead..."

There seems to be some disagreement over whether the Mayor of Phantom Canyon (as the figure at Phantom Manor is known) is the actual Dreamfinder, or just a figure created from the same mold. I'd like to find some definitive word on the matter.

In the meantime, here's a picture of the Mayor, from the Happy-Haunts.com web site:

I'm fairly certain it's just cast from the same mold. Disney does this a lot to save money (look at SSE and how many of those faces are actually presidents with different skin tone and hair color). That said however... it is very obvious that there is some sort of connection here when you look at the hair. While I have yet to see anything difinitive, I have to admit that casting from the same mold is one thing... giving the character curly hair, a curled beard and a handle bar mustache just like Dreamfinder is another. While I don't think it's the same figure itself... I'd certainly believe that it's some Imagineer's omage to the memory of Dreamfinder... and his "ghost" so to speak.
