Question New chat software

As you have probably seen by now, I have been testing out new chat software, which you can access by visiting the BETA site here:
DisneyWorldTrivia.com CHAT CLIENT

This has not been tailored in any way, nor has it been integrated into the forum database/login, but I wanted to know what the general concensus is so far.

Do you like it? Do you have any problems using it? Is it fast/slow? Easy?

Your comments are welcome, as it is one of a few I am looking into. All require a relativey signifigant investment on my part (ugh), so I would like those of you who regularly use it to let me know your thoughts.

I think the box is awfully small. Since I'm old, like the cryptkeeper, I prefer a bigger box. However, in spite of the smaller box, I think it is easier to read.

I am a chat regular so I figured I'd chime in! This chat has positives and negatives.

Positives
-Quick
-Only booted me out once for a second
-Sound effects are fun

Negatives
-Small screen, the float thing isn't that user friendly
-Everyone is the same color which makes it hard to follow (that's a big one)
-No sound to alert you that someone came in or wrote something
-Private chat windows don't stay on the screen like in the old chat, you tend to forget to read them, they minimize automatically and don't pop up after the first time.
-Smileys are ugly, sorry, they are!
-When you type LOL you get a smiley face.
-No avatars (no biggie, just fun)
-Some members are still not able to log in after trying every tip and suggestion possible.

If I think of anything else I'll add it later.

Thanks Lou for even HAVING a chat for us to use!!

The box size is customizable!! Here is how to do it

1. Click on the 3rd box from the right (the box next to the "?")
2. This will "float" the box (seperate it from main window)
3. right click on the lower right corner of this new window and drag
to the size you like.

You can also customize the font size and type using the buttons in the
lower left bottom of the screen.

If you follow the above steps and then minimize the "old"window
you should be able to see the PM window as long as you don't make the main
chat window to big (this also depends on monitor size)
Hope this helps

I am testing it right now so moderators stay out so i do not get in trouble for spamming. It has not language filter so it allows cussing. Hiding now from mods.

Sounds are cute. I like the magnifying glasses which make words super big or small. You can float the window and make it bigger.

It does not have language filter, or lots of fancy stuff but woot it is fine enough for me. It is easy enought to use. Free chat makes me happy.

It aint fancy but it will do.

Pros:
the chat is fast, and doesn't boot me out really ever

Cons:
not everyone can access the chat room, after installing java repeatedly, and trying everything else to get in
I'm also with tink on the everyone's the same color thing.

Thank you SOOO much Lou for having a chat room for us to use! I love the site! Keep up the good work!!

While I appreciate the chat in general, I am not real crazy about this one.
I also liked having the different colors, easier to tell who talked. The sounds are fun.

I do have some problems with it freezing up the puter with it, Like when I want to minimize the page and look at the main posting site or another web page. I wind up having to reboot the whole puter.

What about a basic IRC type channel? I like them a lot more than web-based chats, and there can be a web interface to it.

I second everything Tink said. The float option is there, but not good when you are trying to multi-task as many of us do while in chat. I still can't get in most of the time. It is quite a boring screen. No, you can't keep your PM boxes on the same screen as they open seperate windows - also making multi-tasking difficult.
Can we test a new one for ya? That is, if I can get in...

I really enjoy it, but its not as fun because a lot of people are having a hard time getting in it!

My only "complaint" is that it doesn't beep when someone talks. I then forget I am signed in to chat and have a lot to catch up on. Difficult to multitask when you forget

Just and Tink, Seriously and Garain said... Only biggest problem is, I can't get in majority of the time, other's can't get in as well....

And i normally always forget i'm in since it doesn't beep when someone else has talked....

But over all, just a good thing we do have a chat to go to, and the site has allowed me to meet some great people...
