not sure...I'm on my office computer, and the updates are done by an "administrator". How would I check - and what is the latest version?

I'm not sure what type of computer and operating system you are using at work, so I couldn't tell you how to find it on your machine other than by doing a search.
The file you are looking for is probably labelled as "java.exe" or something similar.

oh well - I tried to download the latest version of Java, and was denied. I don't really want to ask the IT fella to, "Install the latest java for me so I can chat with the cool folks over at DWT"

I'll have to wait until the evening chats!
