Countdown Timer

A number of members have asked me about the Countdown to event times that some other message forums have implemented.

I am in the process of setting this up on our forums, and if you look at my signature, you will have an idea of what it will look like.

For those of you unfamiliar with the timer, it is basically a real-time countdown to your next trip. You just enter in the date, and insert it into your signature.

I hope to have this implemented pretty quickly. Let me know if you have any questions!

Can I ask for an alternate method that maybe won't continuously countdown but only will show how long is left when the page is loaded? Or a profile option to turn that off? It slows down my slow computer dramatically...

Hmmmm.. interesting idea... I will try to post instructions on how to the implement the current timer tonight, but if you know of another version that you like better or operates the way you described, by all means let me know. I'll see if I can find another version, but I have been looking and haven't found anything I like so far.

For instructions on how to set it up, go to the Countdown Timer Generator

Note: In order to insert the script into your signature, you MUST be sure that you use the BASIC EDITOR for the Message Editor Interface.

To do this, go to your Options, and at the bottom of the screen, and change the Message Editor Interface to "Basic Editor - a simple text box"

Once you have inserted the script and saved your signature, you can go back to the original interface selection.

Hmmm....

I'm trying to create a new script, but the drop down boxes for the time of day are showing up blank and I cannot generate a new script. :no:

I tried it both in IE and Mozilla. Any ideas? :question:

I found a copy of my old script for my previous countdown and just changed the date, times, and text!

Oooo Halloween...I may have to meet up with you if I make it down there.

For instructions on how to set it up, go to the Countdown Timer Generator

Please remember: In order to insert the script into your signature, you MUST be sure that you use the BASIC EDITOR for the Message Editor Interface.

To do this, go to your Options, and at the bottom of the screen, and change the Message Editor Interface to "Basic Editor - a simple text box"

Once you have inserted the script and saved your signature, you can go back to the original interface selection (Enhanced, WYSIWIG, etc).
