How to get to Universal from WDW

Hi all! I'm heading to WDW in May. I'm a huge "Harry Potter" fan, so while I'm in WDW, I think I'll take a day and head over to Universal for the sole purpose of visiting WWoHP. I've done some research, and it seems like the easiest way to get from WDW to Universal (I won't have a car) is to go via Mears. I'm a little confused, though - is it a bus you take, or is it a smaller van that you share with other people?

I read somewhere that you can call Mears the night before you want to go to Universal, tell them what hotel you're staying at, and they'll pick you up and bring you back for a reasonable price - around $20. Has anyone done this, and is it the best way to get to Universal from WDW? Thanks for your help!

you can call mears bus company and they will provide transportation from your resort to universal and they tell you to call 2 hours for the return trip. Awesome. have done this many times.

Thanks for the info. Literally, you can just call 2 hours before you want to be picked up? That's really nice. How much does Mears charge per person, round trip? Is it reasonable?

Thanks for asking the question Smack. I'm going to be doing the same thing. Never been to Universal Florida and $20 (Price subject to change and does not include admission to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure.) is a deal!

That's exactly what i am planning to do myself Nov 20..One day Disney trip via universal,,,IT's mears providing transportation according to my agent.. It's important that you are provided a schedule so you the exact time you are leaving and where from Disney back to Universal.. Hope it helps!...

I've used Mears for years, both their van service and their town cars.
If you have a bigger family ask for rates for their towncar/limo. After we had a family of 4 it was cheaper for us to go via mears towncars from airport to hotel, prior to Disney's Magical Express.

Trivia tid bit, Disney has subcontracted Mears to operate their Magical Express. Note the drivers are not in Cast costumes or Disney ID badges.

I can vouch for mears. Used them a few times but now we usually just rent a car.

hi there.. there is a site i use for my tickets.. you get mears included for the price of your universals park ticket..

you print off your mears voucher then pick up your park tickets at the park
