I think it's possible to get a lynx's bus from disney to universal it might be cheaper. I know a taxi will be between 35 and 45 dollars depending on what taxi you use.
I will be staying at the Contemporary resort at the end of May. My wife and I would like to go to Universal Islands of Adventure (big Harry Potter fans) for one day. What is the best (and cheapest) way for us to get there? Rental car? Taxi?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have read recommendations for the bus as well.
We are using Mears bus line. they pick you up at your resort to the bus station at Universal for around $35 roundtrip per person for adults and you can choose the time of pickup and dropoff.
We are going back in late June for 8 days 7 nights. Only taking husband and number 4 son. Very nice!

I live 1717 miles from WDW
Your question is gross to me. Boo Universal.
I'm thinking that a hired car or taxi would be best. The bus system in Orlando is not as good as it should be for a high tourist area. You can set up a time to be picked up at both the hotel and Universal so that you don't have to be tied to someone else's time table.
Have a great time. Harry Potter is pretty amazing, but I still find the park, on the whole, to be louder than WDW.

What will you celebrate?
Adult daycare for the kid inside you.
The Mears van/bus has been our most reliable passage. (they are the subcontractor for Magical Express) We used a limo the last time but it was $45.00 for 4 people one way, also Mears. The public bus from DTD is the cheapest and oddly enough I've seen many posts from folks that have done OK with that route.
If you do take a cab be very, very careful. Leave in a Disney Cab, they will give you a business card to call them to pick you up or go to a Universal Hotel and get the bell hop to call a cab. Both Disney and Universal only let specific cabs to stand on their hotel property. Cab stands at parks not so good, many unscrupulous.
Some people are like Slinkies.
They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing to us for our families.
when we went i bought my tickets thru another place online.. and i got a 2 park 1 one ticket and mears transportation for the same price for the park ticketits a great savings if your only going for one day and they pick you at the resort and when you leave universals just call a hour before you wanna go home and there will be a bus waiting on you to take you home.
i'll send you the link

The best way = Luxury helicopter
The cheapest way = Walk
Bus sounds like a good compromise though![]()

Wow those bus rates sound astonomical! You can rent a car for the day for way less than that. Orlando has some of the cheapest rental car rates in the country.
