DisneyLove28's Trip Report for March 5th-March 12th

So I'm not sure how soon after a trip we're supposed to post these, but I feel like I should have started this already so I'll do a little tonight.

We left in the late afternoon on Wednesday March 5th and arrived in Florida around 10:20pm. By the time we got on the bus (my mom loved the bus, lol! It was her first time staying on property) and got to our hotel it was closing in on midnight and I had forgotten that the food court closes at midnight so instead of getting something to eat right away, my mother and I decided to take our luggage back to our room and come back down. Of course, we find that it's close so we were upset cuz we were starving!!! But I had some snacks I brought thankfully, so we were able to eat that to hold us over until the morning. We walked around a little bit and took a few pictures, but nothing major because we were pretty tired.

The next day (March 6th) we decided to take it easy so we slept in and it felt good! When we finally got ready we went down to the food court and ate some real food! She was blown away by how everything looked (as was I) and it was just cool to be able to wander around. Then we started to realize that all the music they were playing was from one of the different eras the hotel represents so that was pretty cool and while we were eating we heard the Backstreet Boys, which I got excited about because I used to LOVE them when I was younger (and kinda still do, although I'm not a teenie bopper anymore lol). Then we walked around our building a little bit taking some goofy pictures and just having a good time! Later, we decided to do a little resort hopping so we took a bus to the Magic Kingdom and did the Monorail resorts. It was the first time we had ever been inside of them and it was awesome! I didn't think the Contemporary was all that great, but I was blown away by the Polynesian and my mom adored the Grand Floridian (probably cuz we could never afford it). On the way from the Poly to the GF I got to ride in the front seat of the monorail so that was pretty cool! There is a picture, but it's on my mom's camera so I can't put that one up. From the GF we decided to check out Downtown Disney.

We had heard it was supposed to rain that day, but it haddn't and it was around 8pm or so. We took the bus to the Marketplace and went in a few stores and sure enough, it started to come down. Thankfully my mom had remembered to bring her umbrella which helped us to stay drier, but our hair was curling up terribly (we both straighten our hair daily) and we both looked hysterical! It was fun, though. After we poked around the World of Disney a little bit we decided to just head back to the hotel and get something to eat there so we wouldn't be stuck in the rain anymore. It was a pretty fun day and nice to go at a slow pace and not be rushing trying to see or do things. Also, this allowed us to just relax in our hotel room for a little while and I started to read the Trivia books in prep for our trip to Epcot the next day.

PS - How do you make the pictures smaller on here? I couldn't drag in the corners or anything like that!

There's no "rule" for when to start a trip report. A report is just expected from those of us who need to live vicariously. As for reducing picture size, I either reduce it before putting it on a host site, or Photobucket will allow you to reduce it after it's been placed on Photobucket. I prefer the smaller size when posting because it's easier to view and doesn't take a page and a half of space on the screen. Looking forward to the next installment.

That's awesome! Pop Century is really cool! And don't worry, I'll have more pics. I'm just a little behind with school right now so it might take a few days. :dizzy:

I'm finally done with one of my tests so I figured I'd take a little break and write some more on here.

March 7th, 2008

I can't remember what time my mom and I actually woke up on this day, but it wasn't really early. We can't get up at 6:30am like we did last time, that's for sure. Anyways, after we got ready we headed down to the cafeteria where I had the POP waffle. I don't know what it is, but their waffles taste excellent for some reason! It was really busy down there for the breakfast rush and we had to wait around for a few minutes to get a table. When we were done eating, we headed out to the buses and then on our way to Epcot!!

When we got there it looked pretty gloomy and the weather channel said it was supposed to rain (100% humidity and it was aweful!) but we were hoping it would hold out, at least while we walked around World Showcase. Anyways, as soon as we got in and took a few pictures we headed right for Spaceship Earth, which I was really excited about after hearing that it was updated.

I do have to say I like the addition of the screens and the "interactive" part of SSE now, but I didn't notice a whole lot of difference to the ride itself. I did miss the part where you start descending and there were stars moving like a wave (from left to right) over your head and you saw a huge model of a city, but that wasn't anything major. My mom wasn't sure what was going on when we were being prompted with all the questions on the screen because I didn't tell her about that, but it was something different. Right before the end of the ride we were able to see oursleves in the future we had picked and then right outside the ride you could send it to your email and then it would show up on a big screen for a few seconds. After I emailed it, we wandered around in there for a few minutes to see all the new things they had put in there and it's nice to see new things for a change, although we didn't stay in there that long because we wanted to head over to the countries since we never get through them all before it starts to get dark out.

We started off in Mexico and actually hung around there for a while. I love the atmosphere there and me and my mom both wanted to see Mariachi Cobre because we love them! So we did Gran Fiesta Tour while we were waiting and while it needed an update, I'm not completely impressed. At least the video clips don't look painfully old, though. After, I went and bought my Epcot passport and went to the station to get my book filled in. Then we headed over to Norway for a few minutes before going back to Mexico to see our band!

When they were done, we talked to a few of the guys and then went back to Norway to ride Maelstrom. We continued on through the contries and I got my passport signed and stamped at every station. In Morocco, I saw Genie, Aladdin, and Jasmine so I had to get a picture with them considering Aladdin is my favorite Disney movie!

We actually made it through all the countires in the day light since we started in the WS, which was actually kinda cool since we would never really see France, the UK or Canada during the day. Canada was cool too because we live about 10 minutes from the boarder so when we were watching O, Canada we saw this casino/hotel that's fairly new and is on our side in the video when they were showing Niagara Falls. Me and my mom also got the CMs singing their national anthem with us, which we did the last time we were there. We know it because they sing that at all our hockey games here and everything since we're so close to Canada, so that's kind of fun.

Before we left the WS, we decided to get something to eat so we had fish and chips at the UK (nothing big, I know) before heading into Future World. While we were in the "country" I got a few pictures with Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger and it was funny cuz to our left was a door and once the picture was taken Eeyore got down on one knee and was kissing my hand and Tigger decided to pull me out the door and try to keep walking away with me while Eeyore was trying to keep me in the room. I guess you had to be there, but it was just so funny. Eeyore making kissing sounds and Tigger purring just added to it. It was awesome! This is my free photopass picture I got cuz I had a AAA coupon for it. I had to get it cuz it was too funny and a different type of action shot.

At this point, it was getting dark out and it still felt like it was gonna rain, but most of stuff we had left to do was indoors so it was ok. We headed into The Land and we were gonna do Soarin' but the line was really long, so I decided to wait til the Extra Magic Hours for that one. Then we went on Living with the Land and while we were going through one of the greenhouses we heard the rain start to pour down. But it was already around 8, so it held off longer than it was supposed to. When we got out of there we went over to The Seas and the new Nemo ride was down and I got upset because I didn't think we'd be able to see that one. In the meantime we did Turtle Talk with Crush which I found very entertaining! I love the technology they use for that! When we got out of there, the Nemo ride was back up so we got right on that and it was so cute! I vaguely remember the old ride that used to be there, but not enough to compare it to Nemo. Then I spent about 10 minutes watching the dolphins swim around in the aquarium. They were absolutely amazing! From there we went to Bruce's Playground or whatever that's called.

When we left the building, Illuminations was actually going on, even with the rain (which wasn't very heavy at that point) so we watched a few minutes from underneath The Seas building, right outside the doors. From there we went back to The Land to do Soarin' and we got right on so it was a smart move to wait until later. Then, we went on Journey Into Imagination with Figment, even as disappointing as that ride is now compared to what it used to be. I still love Figment though!! :figment:
After that, we went over the Test Track, and they told me it was closed because of the rain but that if it stopped they might re-open it. I didn't have much faith though considering there was only about an hour left for the EMHs. As we were walking around after that, we saw some characters so I went inside the one building (the name escapes me) to get pictures with them, which was actually really fun and made me feel like I was about 6 years old lol!

After this, we headed over to Misson: SPACE and my mom made me do the version without spinning which I was upset about because I love the thrill and the feeling, but she can't exactly handle it and I wasn't gonna go on by myself. It wasn't too bad without it, but I still would have preferred the other one. Then when we came out of there, I saw some people going into Test Track so we walked over and it was opened! It was still raining lightly but they said it was light enough for the ride to be opened. Well, when we got to the part where you go outside at 60mph we couldn't even keep our eyes opened! It felt like little pellets were hitting our faces, but we were laughing so hard and it was so funny regardless, so I had a good time. When we got off we decided it was time to go because it started to rain harder again and the EMHs were almost over anyways.

So we walked to the bus, went back to our hotel, stopped in the cafeteria real quick, and then went to our room where we took hilarious pictures of each other because our hair looked outrageous because of the rain and humidity! Overall the day went great and I had such a fun time there. I feel like as I get older, each time I go to Epcot I like it more and more. So it was great and we couldn't actually fall asleep til around 1am.

I should have our next day up soon, but it won't be a long entry considering the next day is when we went to Universal Studios. :-X

Oh my! Your pics and report are GREAT! I can't wait until Oct!! I have read the EMH in the a.m. make the crowds quite large. What is it like for EMH at night? Is the breakfast really good at Pop? We just ate dinner there.

The EMHs at night are wonderful, especially because you get three extra hours! The first hour, people still filter out of the park, but by the second one, you really notice a difference and if you stay during the thrid one, it's actually very strange because there's really not many people there at all. Of course I'm sure it depends on what season you're visiting WDW and what time the EMHs go until. But, when I was in the MK, we were there until 2am and it was really weird because you would look down Main Street and see maybe 20-30 people so it's really nice for taking pictures/video, but of course I'll talk more about that when I get to my MK day!!

As far as the POP breakfast goes, it's pretty much your basic breakfast foods. Waffles, omlets, french toast, all that kind of stuff, but the flavor of their waffles was just really good! It almost tasted like a faint vanilla maybe? I don't know, maybe it's just me. But it gets insanely busy in the morning so the best bet would either to be go really early or wait until about 10am to have breakfast because if not, you'll probably be waiting for a table to open up.

Thanks for the tips! We'll have to nap in the afternoon to enjoy those night hours. It sounds like something fun and different from what we have seen/done!

Yeah, I had never been able to do EMHs before this trip and now that I have, I'm gonna make sure that when we do go back, we plan which parks we go to around it just because we enjoyed it so much. I think part of the reason why it filters out so much is becuase there's a lot of kids who don't stay up that late and probably pass out before the EMHs start or are over, which does make it nice if you can stay awake yourself! Another word of advice, if you like RnR or ToT and do the EMHs at DHS, those lines will still be kinda long during that time, just because they are so popular and like I said, I'm sure it partially depends on the season you go during, too, so that's something to think about and maybe ask around about so you can plan it better.
