She Said Yes! Trip Report

Sitting at the table listening to the great music over at Flame Tree BBQ, which i've found some of those songs on itunes (Baka: by Outback and Footprints: by Jai Uttal), our friends said that we had to check out the Festival of the Lion King. So from there, we were off to Camp Minnie Mickey. It was great to see the new articulated face on Timon. It is an amazing effect, and I can't wait till it spreads to all the shows/parades/and hopefully meet and greets some day.

We then headed over to Dinoland USA to spend much of the rest of our day. I love this land! The girls posed for a picture on the bridge from Discovery Island:

And I saw an amusing christmas greeting while passing under the Oldengate bridge:

One detail I love about Restaurantasaurus is the little Quonset Hut that can be seen as a part of the structure. This little detail is so perfect because so many of them were built in Florida during WWII. Nowadays, I have seen many of those old huts in Palm Beach County being repurposed for manufacturing plants, car shops, even churches.
It can be imagined, then, that a quonset hut was on location near where the Dino Institute would have been built. Maybe it was the planning office before everything was built, and when need of a cafeteria arose for the researchers, this hut was reporposed and built around.

I haven't been able to get a picture of it, because it can barely be seen. Here is a wikipedia article that has some photos. Hopefully you may recognize the shape and make a connection. I plan on getting a good shot of it some day.

As the article suggests, many were used as bakeries. My grandfather (who is from Pennsylvania) was stationed in Palm Beach during WWII as a baker for the Navy. I wonder if he was working in one of those old huts i've seen around town.

We weren't hungry yet, so we wandered though DTD for a bit to waste some time. Good news, stitch is back.

I found this hidden mickey while shopping through Summer Sands. I'm waiting to see if it'll be added to the official unofficial list by Mr. Barrett. What do you think?

Of course, this is my type of hidden mickey. I want this surfboard.
