La Cava del Tequila

DH & I made it to La Cava del Tequila on the 20th and wish we'd given ourselves more than just 1/2 hour. We arrived around 8:30p with plans of trying a flight and then going out to see Illuminations. Next time we go back we've decided to allow ourselves a good 2 hours for the Tequila bar.

I had a flight of tequila and DH had a mixed drink. I don't remember the name of the flight I had, but I did think that the Don Julio wasn't bad - I'll be looking for that next time I need to pick up tequila at the liquor store. They offered 3 different flights ranging from around $15 to $25.
We did not eat there, so can't comment on the food.
DH's drink was a Hibiscus margarita (or something along those lines). It was sweet, but I liked the little taste of it I had.

They had a pretty extensive menu of tequila & mixed drinks. They also had more standard libations like beer & wine for folks not feeling quite so adventurous.

The staff was awesome! Friendly and helpful. Because we were celebrating my birthday they treated me to one free drink.
I would definately recommend anyone interested stop in, give yourself more than half an hour and enjoy this little gem!

Here are some pix from our vist there:

Trying my first shot (there are 3 shots of tequila + a little tomato juice to sip between to clean your palet).

Yeah - it was that good/bad. Don't you love that liquor face?

The finished flight.... Like I mentioned earlier, the Don Julio was actually fairly smooth (as far as tequila goes).

DH enjoying his boat drink.

Handful of shots from inside. It is larger than it looks from outside. The bar is small, but there are lots of tables.

Looks fabulous and I used to really LOVE Tequila. Too bad I have that whole vomit thing now. I miss a good shot now and again.

I'm so excited about this. I'll be sure to try a margarita when I'm there in December. Thanks for the pictures- they're great!

I'll have to try it when I'm there this weekend! I'm glad they have more than tequila there, let's say Jose Cuervo and I aren't the best of friends...

Actually it is 3 shots of tequila + a shot of tomato juice.

You sip the tomato juice in between shots to clear your palet. At least that is what they told me...

Re: La Cava del Tequila

Did the servers/bartenders give you any tequila tasting thoughts like the differences between your tequilas or how they make tequila, etc.?

I was wondering if any of the servers do the official $35 tequila tastings and might give you some pointers for free?

Glad you had fun! And happy belated birthday.....!

Unfortunately we were only there about 20 or 30 minutes (we didn't want to miss Illuminations) but while there the bartenders were great. We didn't have time to get into a lot of detail, but they did talk me through my flight. I imagine if you had more time to spend & linger they would be able to give you a lot more information about what you are drinking, where it came from, etc.

I assume the tastings you mean are the ones for F&W? Unfortunately we left a few days before F&W started, so I'm not sure if it is the same folks or not? But I'm sure they would give you free pointers & suggestions at the bar.

Definately, if you are even remotely interested in something different & can spare an hour or two stop by & enjoy.

Re: La Cava del Tequila

Thanks for sharing your trip report. We were really glad and exciting when we were first time there. The margaritas were tasty and the bar menu was very reasonable. We have been there several times and it becomes our favorite.

Best Regards,

Re: La Cava del Tequila

Yes, thank you for sharing your report. It was very well done and now I wish I could go there. I have a hankerin' for tequila now. I will have to try the Don Julio. Hopefully, someone will add a food addendum to this post.
