WDW trip Oct 17 thru Oct 23
The family and I just got back from the world yesterday and for the most part had a fabulous time. We had a couple go with us and did every park from opening to closing. Weather was great and there were no lines to speak of and the buses were great too. We had a very nice college kid from Kentucky working the single rider line at Everest give us 6 fast passes after we just got off and decided to ride again with noone in line in the single rider enabling all couples to ride together. That was a real nice plus and I think I will always remember her country accent!!
I only really had three draw backs on this trip.
One was wishes wasn't done on a couple nights we were there. You had to purchase the Not so Scary Halloween party to see the modified version.
Second, OKW is in dire need of a refurb. The beds are awful (like sleeping on a plank) and our room 1110 didn't have any power along one wall and had to keep resetting the breaker on the toaster plug. Also had some mold along the baseboards in the bathroom. I did complain the first nite but nothing was done so being I had 3 studios in the same area I just let it alone.
But if anyone is staying at OKW as a tip get the front desk to reserve you an egg crate for your bed. You will sleep alot better.
Third, the entire housekeeper team in our building did not speak or understand English other than to tell us to call the front desk. I didn't really mind this too much because between my daughter and myself we speak a little Spanish and French and got by. BUT they assumed we didn't understand them speaking between themselves. What they said between themselves about guests there was appaling.
And Lou I missed the meet again by one day. Bummer!! I guess I try again in late April or early May.

Interesting that you could pick up what the staff was saying.
Re: WDW trip Oct 17 thru Oct 23
Why so? The couple that was with us are Puerto Rican.
I also would love to have your job. Get paid to go flying.
Re: WDW trip Oct 17 thru Oct 23
I don't know if you have an aversion to being a "tattletale" or anything, but if I were you I'd consider letting Disney know about your experience. If they can identify the offending staff it could mean their jobs, and I understand why you might feel guilty about that, especially in this economy. But I'm sure there are people just as deserving who would be happy to have those jobs right now.
Spanish especially is pretty widely spoken in the US, so speaking derisively about guests within earshot, even in Spanish, is a pretty serious breach in my opinion.

I've thought about it but the conversation they were having wasn't for us to hear to begin with. They were below us outside in the breezeway. They were talking about not having to change the sheets because noone would know anyway. I didn't like that because I always assumed that when I checked in a room for the first night the sheets were clean and unslepted on.
The comment made about guests were how trashy they were and kids not very smart more like a dumb animal.

Wow this is amazing. I appreciate your sharing it, and would encourage you to call Disney to let them know. Even if you heard them accidentally, I think that this is terrible guest service and could even present health issues. Please, let Disney know about your experience. It is the only way things get better.
