    DAY 4 – Wednesday – Four Parks/One Day

The drive to MGM is longer than it needs to be, as is the trip in from the gate to the parking lot. After leaving the car, I jumped on the tram before it left (first experience with those highly-unnecessary tram doors) and walked into the park. One of the perks of not travelling with a bag... no security check point.

I headed up to Toy Story Mania only to find out that the fast passes were gone for the day by 11am. Oh well, not this trip. I skipped the rest of the back of the park since Star Tours is closed, and decided to walk through One Man's Dream for the first time. I had no interest in seeing the movie, but walking through the props was well worth this visit for me. Not sure why I skipped it all this time, but I'm happy to have seen the collection, at least once. I walked the entire gallery and exited through a door I found towards the front of the theater.

I headed towards the Animation area and watched them paint up some cells that they'd be, well, cell-ing (ha) in the shop up front. I checked out the characters inside to see if there was anyone worth taking a picture with. Mickey in sorcerer get-up? Got it way too many times. Skip. Oh look, there's Mrs. Incredible. How... timely. Skip. OK, Lotso. That one had potential. The last time I was here, there was a long line for the three characters from Up. Not the case this time. There were four families ahead of me. I will say this for Disney -- they did a fantastic job of decorating the area to resemble the daycare center. It took me a while to figure out what it was supposed to be, but once I made the connection, it was pretty neat. Drawing that look like they were done by kids, a window showing the parking lot, a sign that changed with updates on activities at the center. Lots(o) to see while you are waiting... if there's a line. Which there wasn't. Disney also pumps in strawberry scent into the area, a nice touch, though the cast member was thankful that today's dose wasn't as potentent as it has been in the past. She also mentioned that Lotso seems to have an unhealthy obsession (not her wording, but her inference) on hugging the young women who come through, which were witnessing first hand. The guy would not let go of the two teens in front of me. Yes, we get the joke, you love to hug. But there's a lawsuit a'brewin' here, I can feel it. So, I got my picture with Lotso on my camera and some crazy-looking guy with a moustache handed me yet another Photopass card. I don't use these things. I'm not paying Disney a hundred bucks to get the CD, nor am I paying them a ton of money for their pictures. Thanks but no thanks, Disney. My little 14megapixel Canon will do just fine.

From there, I walked towards the Villains en Vogue shop, which now carries pretty much only Nightmare Before Christmas stuff. Short visit there. I walked across the street to see if there were any nice new villains watches or sketches I could add to my collection. That sketch book keeps getting smaller and smaller. Honestly, what's the harm in filling the book with characters from each movie. So what if they don't sell... is it costing anything to have it sit there for the one person who is interested in finding a character who is not a lead? I think not. Oh well, short stay there, too. I was trying to get out of the park as early as I could, so I skipped waiting for Tower of Terror, and since Aerosmith is one of my least favorite rock acts, I have no time for Rock-n-Roller Coaster. So, I walked back toward the main street and headed toward the gate.

Total stay? Not even an hour. Pictures? One here, two total for the day so far. Rides? Zip, unless you count the One Man's Dream. It's time to expand this park. Big time. Give us something to do, because when Hollywood Studios is downgraded from a half-day to a quarter-day park, we've got issues.

So, it was time to head to Animal Kingdom. For the third park of the day. To be continued...

    Have yet to see them.

I will say this: people managed to survive 39 years without falling out and bankrupting the company.

Not sure, Joe. Maybe they were right in installing them afterall. As it turns out, not a single person fell off our tram.

That Disney has had only a few dopes visit in their 39 years.

I wonder if it was a recent issue that prompted the tram doors or if it was a pre-emptive measure, just in case.

maybe Americas infatuation with lawsuits prompted the addition to discourage bogus suits by people just trying to make a buck...

    just a thought though...

Someone did actually file a lawsuit...

The change in pressure on the hydrolators caused thier ear drum to burst.
(Lawsuit was dismissed when judge saw specifications for hydrolators!)

Re: Mike's solo December trip report

    Haha yeah, I know!

It's just a testimony to the power of the imagination, and how the old "blow bubbles past something moving" trick from 1959 can still fool people!

The big joke is that, even if it was all real, something like the Hydrolators would be kept at one-atmosphere, same as sea-level, as would SeaBase. You would dock on and "transfer under pressure". So... even if Disney was to send you a couple of hundred feet to the sea-bed, there still wouldn't be a decompression risk from the act alone...
