Chapter 5: Six Weeks from Today…

I’ve read reports where people leave for vacation after work, in the afternoon, or late morning… we always leave VERY EARLY! Even earlier when we drive – we are picking up Cheryl and heading to Sandy’s at 4:00am! We’re hoping to get to Valdosta, GA, this trip (May the Time Change Be with You).

I’ve been a Weight Watchers member a few times in my life – this time I’m trying WW Online (no meetings). I figure, why else did I get a Smart Phone, right? I started again 4 weeks ago, because: 1.) I realized the pounds had crept back up, 2.) my plantar fasciitis was killing me on a daily basis and walking the parks was going to be difficult at best, and C.) I didn’t want to be a whale in pictures.

At least my priorities are straight.

I also came across a sentence in a book I was reading: What’s the point of picking a path, if you’re just going to leave it on a whim?

It was like BAMM!!!

That analogy really hit home for me. Between the fast food and the chocolate bars, I was giving in to whim after whim! But no more… I’ve lost 8# in the first 3 weeks! And I’m actually studying menus for the trip to see where I can make better choices! And my feet don’t hurt as much.

So 6 weeks from today, I’ll be in a car, munching on carrot sticks and apples, instead of candy bars and Doritos.

Now if I could just figure out what to wear…

Hi Jaime! Nice to read your report. We have something in common...
We both have two dogs! We are about the same age. I turned 44 on March 10th.
We both have Smart Phones (mine is an iPhone 4g).
We both seem to struggle with our weight.

I actually lost 20 lbs last year from January through May, then the kids were off for the summer and schedules were rampant, and I have gained it all back, but nothing more. (I haven't check since we have that huge Mickey Mouse head rice krispy treat!).

I think a big part is counting your calories, and getting exercise. Despite that, I still keep up with my kids who are 9 and 5.

Good luck with the Weight Watchers Online, and have fun on the road trip! Drive safely!
BTW, Mama Melrose's is really good at accommodating dietary restrictions.

Hi I am new, this pre trip report is great. I love Disney, Rick Springfield and my dog too! How cool about your tattoo!

I am cracking up over your comments of Alice's poop, that is hilarious.Thank God you saved Aurora, she is beautiful. My son has a pit bull and she is the biggest baby every and so loving.

I love a good color-coded schedule!! Your plans look great. This will be our first trip during the Flower and Garden Fest, we can't wait. We arrive on the 11th.

Congrats on the Pirate room and the pounds lost!

Chapter 6: THIS MONTH!!!!!!!!! Yikes!

APRIL 1st, 2011: This month!!! We leave THIS MONTH!!!

Every trip – every stinking trip – sneaks up on me like a thief in the night – and robs me of my organizational skills and, this year, of my mind.

The last month before a trip is a whirl of packing and buying and listing and checking and waiting. But last week I came up with the Mother of All Hiccup Ideas (MOAHI) – 2 weeks before driving to Disney – let’s get a bunch of friends together and drive 12 hours to Washington DC for the WEEKEND!!!

Here’s what happened: Do you all know Ros?

She just had ankle surgery and is home recovering. We were talking on Facebook when she commented that it was too bad I didn’t live closer, so I could come and visit. Ha-ha, yeah… as I pull up a map and check the distance.

You know, if I got a couple of other people (have you met Jen and Shanan?)

to share the driving, and we left Friday afternoon, I bet we could do it… It’s crazy, but how fun would that be???

Then I send a note to Todd

in Detroit that if he lived in Toledo, we’d have picked him up on the way! He’s now meeting us in Toledo!

We plan to drive to Anne’s

in Maryland, and get a few hours of sleep Saturday morning, before continuing on to DC.

Robin,

Jeff and Val

will all be there too!

I can’t wait!!!

April 2, 2011: 4 weeks!!! It’s 4:20pm Central right now, so in 4 weeks, we’ll be somewhere in Georgia, heading south!!!
