Friday, 5/6: Kona Café (breakfast) / EPCOT / Davy Jones / EMH until midnight

Saturday, 5/7: Transfer to AS Sports / :ak: AK / Yak & Yeti / Bob Jackson

Sunday, 5/8: Kona Café / MK / afternoon tea / MK

What beach for wishes? Just curious, I am not a stalker, honest really, it's Rob that wants to know, yeah, Rob.

Anyway, I am expecting a relaxing, slow paced vacation… who knows what I’ll get???

After that, it was back to the cars (Robin and Ros driving) and tours of the city. Jen, Anne, and I were in Robin’s car. We had a little trouble between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery… (this would be a great place for a cliff-hanger… I wonder if I’ve hit the picture limit for this post yet…)

Trouble? What trouble, there was a naked guy on a horse, you know you wanted to see that again, and again, and again, and again, and a-I'm getting dizzy.....

Fri and Sat are grad nights. I think they may be the last ones in Florida. They are not doing them next year.

I will have to improve my stalking skills if I am going to keep up. I am sure I can find someone who could give me some advise on how to do it well.

Chapter 9: Being There is Still 1/3 the Fun

APRIL 9, 2011: Where were we? Oh, yes, a little trouble… There’s a roundabout in front of Arlington National Cemetery, which Robin took us around a couple of times (you aren’t allowed to drive up any further) before taking the exit… She put some other landmark into her GPS, but we were talking and laughing so much, no one was paying attention to what it was saying. The next thing we knew – we were at the roundabout for Arlington National Cemetery again! Ha-ha, funny, back across the bridge to the Lincoln Memorial, not listening to the GPS again – hello, Arlington!









We drove back and forth across the Potomac at least 6 times!





We were driving slowly around the Iwo Jima statue (which I freely admit I did not know it was in DC. I don’t know where I thought it was, but I was surprised to see it) when I start screaming in Robin’s car, “Go back!!! Oh!!! Back up!!! Back UP!!!”



Robin backs up 5 parked cars – and there it is –



INCONCEIVABLE!





Time for dinner at Maggiano’s with Jeff and Val!! Once we were done sight-seeing and headed to meet everyone for dinner, the GPS went bonkers and TOOK US BACK TO ARLINGTON!!!







Anne and I whip out our phones and fire up the GPSs… this is when we realized my Cricket phone GPS is meaner than the other people’s GPSs… Her voice just isn’t as refined…

We were a group of 9 and Maggiano’s wanted us to order Family Style – no problem. They wanted the order a couple of days early – after several phone calls and a Facebook message thread of over 200 messages, no problem.



What a blast dinner was!!! It was so good to see Jeff and Val again – and we made plans for September!







Back to Ros’ after dinner, and we were all too tired to even play a game! We just chilled and chatted and got ready for bed! We have to get up early!

Chapter 10: Leaving There is 1/3 the Fun (ok, not really)

APRIL 10, 2011: The plan was to leave Ros’ by 7am. We were ready to walk out the door at 6:45! That’s right – the Entourage started a new Plan of Action this trip: we were early for everything! We ran to 7-11 for coffee and a bag of ice for Ros, delivered the ice, and headed back to Maryland to dump, I mean drop off Anne!

The GPS got confused - guess where we ended up??? YUP! ARLINGTON!







We were actually excited to travel through the Pennsylvania mountains in the daylight – until we encountered some MAJOR fog!!! There was a guard rail – we could not see what was on the other side of it: could have been a farm, could have been a ravine…

I slowed down and decided to follow a single car - about 10 miles into it, I mused out loud that perhaps I shouldn't have picked a "fog" colored car...





The Alleghany Tunnel was nowhere near as scary (or long) in the daylight…







Shanan shows us how to geocache at a rest stop in Ohio – it was a lot of fun to find something someone hid so long ago!





Before we knew it, it was time to drop Todd back off in Toledo…

Indiana and Illinois flew by, too (and we DID stop at the rest stop I promised on that first day!) We dropped off Jen and headed back to my house. We left DC at 7am and (gaining an hour) I was eating dinner in my dining room at 7:30pm! So I guess Shanan’s not the only lead foot in the group!

We road trip very well together – I can’t wait to see what else we come up with to do!!!

Chapter 11: On with the Show!




APRIL 29, 2011:

Twas the night before vacation, and all through my house,


The dogs are confuzzled by my trip to the Mouse.


The shirts that were hung on the wall with such care


Are now in the suitcase, crying out for some air.


By 8 o’clock tonight I shall be in my bed


With visions of caramels being bit in my head.


With Alice at my feet and Aurora by my side,

We’ll get a few hours rest before my big ride.

Oh, the mailman just got here - back to work!!!
