The REAL Disney Vacation (Pre-Trip Report)

It's official... we've told DS that we're going. The only problem with this is the fact that at 5 years old, he doesn't quite understand time yet. So, he knows we are going but really isn't grasping that we are going in 3 months. I see 3 months of dealing with the "are we going today?" question each morning but oh well!

yes i made the "mistake" of telling my daughter 4 that we were going down for our bdays...and every day its "tomorrow we go to disney right mommy?" "no baby, still one more month, gotta wait til august 16th, its only "such and such"....so ya. *sigh* i understand. hopefully the countdown calender starts to help some.

ya that whole understanding time thing....although, even i dont understand it sometimes....."but why cant we go to disney now"???

The great news is... we've now officially booked the surprise for Wednesday night!

It's getting closer (41 days til we arrive) and I'm trying to find something else to do. What else can we fit in? I need ideas people... I want to keep planning.

2 weeks from tomorrow we'll be hitting the road! Sure, it's not until the next day that we'll be on property but in my eyes, that's when the vacation begins!

I'm contemplating my trip report... trying to decide what works better. I think history has shown that a report with pics works best right? I mean... that's what you all prefer! What I'm trying to decide though is do I do it text/photo/text/photo style or use links or I dunno. Hrmmm decisions decisions.

This comes from boredum and desperately needing to plan SOMETHING now that there's nothing left to plan. LOL

i'm with you.. we wont be the parks until 11th but in my mind our vacation starts the 10th because were loading up the car and heading to columbus for the night going to bed early and hitting that plane early in the morning.

Far better planning than mine will be. Right now all I've got is:
Sunday - land and Christmas party
Monday - relax
Tuesday - Character breakfast and all four parks
Wednesday - relax
Thursday - Downtown Disney, lunch somewhere, fly home

And that's about as far as my 'planning' will be going for a Disney trip

I think half the fun of the trips is coming home and writing the trip report so I promise I'll do one worth reading! The past couple trips I've not done much due to some personal reasons but I am definitely planning on getting back to posting reports more like those I did in 2007, 2008 and 2009 (see signature links) and not 2010 and 2011.

As for room in the suitcase... it's less about the room there and more about the room in the cars. Hubby and I each drive a Mini Cooper and a trip of 4 adults and one child, plus the baggage for a nearly week-long trip... smudged into two tiny cars... yeahhhh no more room sorry.

I think half the fun of the trips is coming home and writing the trip report so I promise I'll do one worth reading! i can imagine how tight your space is!! i know we flew and had a weeks worth of stuff crammed into 2 carry ons and 2 small bags each. i am surprised we made it back with the same amount of bags considering the extra plush we got on the trip for kay...next time we are checking a bag, i dont care if i have to pay 30 bucks!! :p

I think last night we decided to potentially switch this up a bit...

The plan was that on Sunday, we were going to hit a park after breakfast and then plan to get on the road to come home around 2:00. That would mean we'd probably have around 4 hours in a park that day.

It dawned on me yesterday that we'll be arriving on property sometime around 10:00am on the 20th. We could check-in, hit a park that day instead, take a break to go to DTD for lunch and maybe some shopping and then head back to a park. We'd probably get a total of 6-8 hours in a park that way... a MUCH better use of a day on the ticket.

Now the question is... which park?

I know! Play "spin the bottle"...take some sidewalk chalk and draw a circle on the sidewalk. Divide it into four sections, each representing one Park. Then, put a soda (or beer ) bottle in the middle and spin that puppy...!

Actually I think we may have found something that could make the decision for us. They extended the park hours of DHS that night and added a Fantasmic! showing. There are openings for the dinner package that night. We're thinking of maybe, since DHS is usually not a full-day park for us anyway... we may do DHS that day, do the Fantasmic Dinner Package and then take the day that WAS to be DHS and go back to MK or something something.

We're going to let the kids decide tonight.
