July 2011 Trip Report Part 1 of 4...Days 1-3: Arrival and Immersion into the parks

So, here it goes: my first Trip Report. Before I go any farther, I will post my photobucket album so y'all can look at the...526!...pictures I took...I will of course NOT be using all 526 pictures in this Trip Report. Actually, I urge anyone that wants to see more pictures to go there. From page 1 they are in reverse order (last pictures I took first), because there's no way I'll even get a fraction of them up here.

Also, I am splitting up this TR into 4 threads so it doesn't completely clutter the TR thread section. However, I will be doing multiple posts per thread just because it's easier to just do a little bit at a time. Just bare with me...and thanks for checking out my journey!

    7/20/11: Arrival (Day 1)
It was like any other Wednesday afternoon. I woke up, did everything I had to do, just relaxed. Went to get lunch with a friend around noon. Then got back home and started packing around 2:30pm...I was leaving for the airport in under an hour and a half. Yes, I DO procrastinate quite a bit. By 3:15pm I was done packing. Another good friend was coming over to pick up a video game to borrow right before I left. And he finally showed up right at 3:45pm, as I was loading the car about to go to Newark airport. He arrived, I handed him the game, said see ya later to him and was off. My dad drove me to the airport. And by 4:15pm I was at Newark Airport. My dad dropped me off, said goodbye and off I went into Newark Airport, by myself, as I had done several times in the last year flying to/from college. Checked my suitcase, went through security and was in Newark's Terminal C (Continental...Newark is a hub for Continental). My flight was scheduled for 6:20pm...and took off at 6:45pm. Not bad for Newark. And in the air I was...iPod touch ready to go so I could listen to 3 Doors Down's new album for about the 15th time through already (favorite band, LOVE this album...anyway). And, at a bit after 9pm, I was in Orlando! Through the terminal, and met up with my cousin who was waiting for me at the baggage claim. Grabbed my bag, and went out to the car to meet up with my aunt as I was staying at their summer house in a gated community in Kissimmee, just 2 miles from the WDW gates. By 10:30pm, I was in the house. Then, showered, and was off to bed. Bright and early the next morning...it was off to Epcot!

There's more to come in Part 1/4....STAY TUNED!

Re: July 2011 Trip Report Part 1 of 4...Days 1-3: Arrival and Immersion into the park

7/21/11: Already off to Epcot (Day 2)

Yes, the first sight of Disney World that I see. The excitement built quite quickly. My aunt didn't feel like going to the parks that much, so she just dropped myself and mu cousin off everyday. On this day, we arrived at Epcot right at 9am for when the park opened. And this is the first thing I see. So awesome. From here...we knew what the plan was. Fastpass Soarin', standby on Test Track. And that is exactly what we did.

    In the interim...

So, we rode Test Track after fastpassing Soarin'. While walking from getting the Soarin' FP to Test Track, we were alongside a family from MA there for the first time doing the same exact strategy (and, yes, also with Touring Plans). So, being the type of person who LOVES talking about things in the park, I explained to them what Test Track was like...also with some little tidbits and interesting facts I know. Then, only a 20 minutes line for Test Track stood infront of us.

After Test Track, and having to wait a bit more to go on Soarin' via Fastpass...we decided to hit up the Seas with Nemo

And after that, with a bit more time to kill, we walked right on to Living with the Land. Then...it was time for Soarin'. (Wait...what? I didn't take any pictures of the Soarin' exterior? Shame on me!) Well, y'all are going to have to settle for Patrick Warburton instead:

Then, we went and visited Figment:

And after Figment, a place we went to 7...that's right 7 times in the 4 times I was inside Epcot on my trip:

At this point, it was about noon or so. We then headed off to World Showcase. And that will be the NEXT post in this thread! Stay tuned!

Re: July 2011 Trip Report Part 1 of 4...Days 1-3: Arrival and Immersion into the park

From here, we crossed the park and decided to start in Mexcio going around World Showcase. First, we went on the Gran Fiesta Tour starring the Three Caballeros

    Next was the Maelstrom:

And from here we just roamed World Showcase for a bit

When we reached the International Gateway, we exited the park and headed over to the Boardwalk Resort to go get lunch at the ESPN Club, with no wait. I had the Southwest Burger there.

And after lunch we went back into Epcot to finish up World Showcase.

After we finished World Showcase, we decided to roam Future World and Innoventions for a bit (and yes going back to Club Cool).

Hey, look! It's a picture of me!

    THe Innoventions Firetruck!

And the Wonders of Life Pavilion as we leave...

And the final picture in the parks of the day. We left Epcot at about 2:45pm

And thus concluded my first day in the parks. After that we went back to the house and swam for a bit, had dinner and just chilled the rest of the night. After getting in late the night before and straight to Epcot in the morning, I was slightly tired. Here are a couple pictures of the house:

That's it for that day. Next up in the Part 1/4 thread comes Day 3 of the trip, Animal Kingdom and an impromptu hop to the Magic Kingdom! Stay tuned!

Re: July 2011 Trip Report Part 1 of 4...Days 1-3: Arrival and Immersion into the park

7/22/11: Animal Kingdom in the morning, impromptu hop to the Magic Kingdom in the afternoon (Day 3)

Once again, we woke up early to get to Animal Kingdom (this time) early to get there right when it opened. And going by the Touring Plans crowd calendar, this was a less crowded park, and that it really was.

Right away, we were off to the "Asia" area and off to Expedition Everest it was. However, when we got there, there was literally only a 5 minute wait. Thus, we diverted from the plan of fastpassing it and decided to walk onto the stand by line.

After that, we headed over to the Kiliminjaro Sarafi and fastpassed it. With a bit of time to wait before we could go on the Safari, we decided to head over to Rafiki's Planet Watch. We spent about a half hour over there, just roaming around and going into the Affection Section.

Hey, look...another picture of me! And this picture is currently my Facebook profile picture:

Once we got back from Rafiki's Planet Watch it was time to go on the Safari. And we walked right through the Fastpass line, and by the time we got into the station it was less than 5 minutes and we were off on our journey. Upcoming, a few select pictures from the Safari.

    LION!!!

Once we got off of the Safari, we headed over to Dinoland USA, and was able to walk right on to Dinosaur.

And to be perfectly honest, this was all we really wanted to do in Animal Kingdom. At this point it was 11:30am and my cousin and I were debating what we wanted to do for lunch. After throwing around various ideas in other parks and resorts, we settled on Casey's Corner in the Magic Kingdom. And off to there we went.

The final post in this first of four threads will be on our hop over to the Magic Kingdom. Stay tuned...there's more to come!

Re: July 2011 Trip Report Part 1 of 4...Days 1-3: Arrival and Immersion into the park

So, we've made it to the final post of the first thread of my trip report (now..we still have one more to go). My cousin and I took the direct line Disney Transport bus from Animal Kingdom to the Ticket and Transportation Center (unfortunately, it doesn't go all the way to the gate like the resort buses). And at about 12:15pm, the line for the monorail was about a 30 minute line...seriously, come on! So, we decided to take the ferry boat instead.

From the ferry boat, across the Seven Seas Lagoon:

And into the Magic Kingdom we go!

And we walked in right while the parade was going on:

We fought our way through the crowd, and into Casey's Corner we went. There, I had the BBQ Slaw Dog...yes overpriced, but it was actually very good.

A nice close picture from outside Casey's. However, we were lucky enough to get a seat on the bleachers by the TV in Casey's.

Even though Splash Mountain had an 80 minute line, and we didn't go on it this day, still had to take a picture of my favorite attraction:

However, we fastpassed Big Thunder Mountain railroad, as it had a reasonable return time. Then, we went across the park to Liberty Square to check out Haunted Mansion...an attraction I have not been on since 2005. And...with only a 20 minute wait, I was on it for the first time in 6 years!

And then, it was time to return with the fastpasses fo Big Thunder Mountain. BTMR was the attraction I went on the most in my time in Disney World...4 times total.

    R.I.P. Fantasyland Skyway Station

    Beast Castle rises!

    R.I.P. Mickey's Toontown Fair...

After taking a bunch of pictures of the Fantasyland construction (you can check them out on the photobucket page...posted at the top of this thread), we made it over to Tomorrowland. Here, we just went on the TTA PeopleMover.

Unfortunately, at this point I have to leave to go somewhere with my family. There's more to the story of our adventure to Magic Kingdom on this day...I just don't have time to finish at the moment. I will be back on later to finish...then post my four park day thread! Hope you guys have enjoyed looking through my trip report so far!

Great pictures. Wow, how did you go six years without visiting the HM?
Did you notice all the changes inside and visit the upgrades outside?
    Some people are like Slinkies.

They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.

    Thanks everyone!

And I'm really not sure how it was so long since I last went on the Haunted Mansion...just never went to it I guess. Strange, I know...just never went on it. It certainly wasn't one of my favorite attractions...but it was good to go on it again. And yes, it looked EXTREMELY different to me

Re: July 2011 Trip Report Part 1 of 4...Days 1-3: Arrival and Immersion into the park

From here, the story gets quite interesting. My cousin has a liking to collect fastpasses to keep...and he hadn't had one from Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin yet. So he wanted to get one...and I said what the heck I'll get one too. If anything maybe I'd just give to someone on the way out. However...that wouldn't be the case. So we started to make our way out.

You see...it was drizzling the whole time we were there, and as we were about to leave after the TTA Peoplemover, it started pouring.

My cousin wanted to stop and get a water as were by the castle, at the popcorn stand off to the left. As he was in line the skies just opened up, and I was stuck in the open while taking a picture of the "Partners" Statue as a a crowd of people moshed around him underneath the canopy of the popcorn stand.

I then yelled "meet me in the Emporium!" and off to there I sprinted...as fast as I could, while, yes still getting soaked. Finally made it there, and about 10 minutes later he showed up. At this point it was about 3pm. SO...

Remember those fastpasses that we got from Buzz Lightyear with no intention to use? WELL...it just so happened that the time to use those fastpasses was in the timeframe. So,before we left...it was off back to Tomorrowland once the skies cleared, and time to shoot some Z's on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

    My winning score:

After that, we left the Magic Kingdom and hopped on the resort monorail to go over to just roam the Polynesian for a bit. My aunt picked us up around 4pm from the Poly, and back to the house to swim and just hang out it was. (I have one picture from the Poly, but it's on my phone...and now at 2:30, I'm too tired to move the picture from facebook to the desktop of my macbook to photobucket to finally here).

Anyway...that's it for this thread of my trip report. Tomorrow...well, later today now!...I will do the thread for which I think will be the most fun part of my trip report to do...the 4-park Adventure that occurred the next day. Stay tuned...the next part is going to be epic!
