Rates are coming soon. Expect 10-15% hike in rates.

Is it me or with the price of gas, does anyone else see the American Family Summer Vacation going bye bye? And my boss says he doesn't think the cost of living has increased.

Is there a formula that say's the price of something can only go up so far before people will stop buying?

I don't really know, but we could make one up.

I am in charge of planning a Magical Gathering for 2009 so due to gas and WDW going up I estimate a 30% rate increase from the current ones. Sad definitly.

I'm waiting for 2008 rates as well. I have no doubt the rates will go up. I also heard RUMOR that WDW may be going to a "date based booking system" and would that include blackout dates re discounts (AAA, AP, etc.), changes in rate "season"? I'm saving $$$ but I am not going to book anything until we see what the new rate structure looks like. Hopefully, we will not have to wait too much longer.

Yes, they were released about a week ago. They went to a date based system whereby even within specific rate seasons (value, regular, peak, etc.) room rates are higher Friday and Saturday and even higher on or near holiday weekends (President's Day, MLK Day, etc.). Dates now fluctuate even within a particular season. Example, I am going April 2008 which is regular season and the rates were a bit higher in late May which is also regular season. I'm guessing because some schools are out for summer. Rates increased $15-20 a night Monday through Thursday, even more weekends and holidays.

I haven't seen rates posted aside from folks sharing what they paid, but you can go to disneyworld dot com, plug in dates you are interested in for room only. It will list each price for night of your stay and the total. This will be rack rate but you might call WDW Travel to see if AAA or AP rates apply to your travel dates. Right now I have AAA rate for my trip April 19-28, 2008 at Pop Century. My AAA rate Monday through Thursday nights is $84.15 per night, my AAA rate Friday and Saturday nights is $92.65. My one night deposit was the higher price, $92.65, plus tax.

WDW has already stopped applying the rate for checking in during value season through a trip that runs into regular season. For those checking in late Sept. staying past Oct. 2 or 3 when regular season begins, your rates will increase with regular season rather than staying at value season. However, I do not think WDW has already gone to higher weekend rates in 2007, yet anyway.

Another change is that AP rates apply to APholder's room ONLY. No longer can an APholder book two rooms with their AP. I booked 2 rooms at Pop for a family vacation April 2008 and my AP rate will apply to MY room only if AP rates are released for our dates. I will have to stick with AAA discount for 2nd room or go to a package for that room if it's less expensive in the end. This change took place a couple of weeks ago as well.
