osborne family spectacle this year?

Last year during the week of Thanksgiving, we saw the spectacle of lights and loved it. This year we wanted to take the kids to see it, but I looked on the website and noticed it doesn't begin until Nov. 28. Any ideas why it is beginning so late this year? and we really really want to see it! (This last part was added by my DD)

Cross your fingers. They often have soft openings and do run throughs the week prior trying to get the bugs out. It was indeed open the weekend prior to Thanksgiving last year. I was there on the 17th of November, it was great, it made the Hot Coco taste that much better.

I hope to be able to see it I'll be there November 14th-21st... so maybe towards the end of the week...

Tiff-I think they are a full two weeks behind this year. Last year I believe its official opening was November 12th. My guess is trying to launch the castle
360 degrees and Osborne is stretching their Electrical Engineers a bit. Osborne is a completely different set up from the original I saw back when the castle was a cake. It was originally in the original Tram area by the houses before they were demo'd. It was cool too. This is more of a show than just a spectacle with the snow, music, and hot coco.

EchoScot hasn't been on DWT in some time, if anyone knows what site he is hang'n at, he might very well know if there is a soft opening being targeted.

Rich and Ann said they saw some of the lights being put up already. That's a good sign.

Was there 2 days ago and they have a lot of the lights up. Including the Peace on Earth globe.

At least I will get to see the Castle lights this year (we are going to the christmas party on the 16th.) And we did see the osborne family spectacle of lights in 06. They were amazing! I hope they do have a soft opening though!

Tiff- the latest update I've seen from Passporter Newsletter

No-one knows what 2008 will have in store for us, but if it's anything like the previous years it will be a sight to behold. Last year saw the lights dance for the first time and it certainly was a breathtaking spectacle, perhaps highlighted by the fact that we kept returning time and time again during our stay to see them dance. In previous years, 3D glasses have enhanced the lights, producing various effects including snowflakes. And, speaking of snow, there's usually some of that white stuff to be magically found as you make your way around the lights

The Osborne Spectacle of Lights will be lighting up the Streets of America area of Disney's Hollywood Studios from November 28, 2008 until January 4, 2009, although in previous years, there have been special previews of the lights from as early as mid November. They will be lit every night and there's no additional cost, apart from park admission, to see them.

The lights normally do have previews for a week or two before, at least testing out certain options! I'm excited to see them this year!!
