| Steps/distance around the parks! So . . . strange question (maybe). Has anyone counted steps around the World Showcase? I wondered what route in my neighborhood would match up the best.

| Re: Steps/distance around the parks! I dont know just a thought though, if you went on Google Earth, you might be able to figure out the distance. I dont know if there are scales on the screen or not - if there isn't, you could compare the distance to something of a known size such as a football field could work, right?

| E-Ticket Holder | Re: Steps/distance around the parks! Google Maps will let you plot a customized route on an overhead map, and will show you the distance covered by the route. I did one for Epcot here: from:Unknown road to:Unknown road to:28.371833,-81.54925 - Google Maps You should be able to move either of the endpoints by clicking and dragging, and you can drag any portion of the line around. The route I plotted is 1.0 miles. You can do the same thing with a map of your neighborhood. Just ask for walking directions between any two corners near your house, and then you can get the route you want by moving either point and sections of the resulting route. What I did was picked two points near Epcot, dragged both of them to the same location on the map (which resulted in a roughly 10 foot route), and then grabbed a point on the line and dragged it over to France. Google recalculated the route you see on the map. Tony |

| Re: Steps/distance around the parks! Thanks tizzo for the google map suggestion. That's pretty cool! Of course, we'd have to add another 1/2 mile to that map for me! We'd have to include the walk through the queue for Maelstrom, a detour to Germany for a few beers at Somerfest, and then we would have to account for the zig-zags the rest of the way around the World (due to the German beers!).

| Re: Steps/distance around the parks! Are you just worried about World Showcase? Don't forget the rest of the walking (room to breakfast, back to room, over to the bus, bus to park entrance, back tracking for shows/fast pass times.etc, park to bus, back to room, out to DTD, etc). In the past I've brought my pedometer w/us & DH and I average 7 to 12 miles a day. Depends on the park, if we go back to the room during the day, park hopping, evening plans, and where we stay. Exception to this were days we went to water parks - they came in much less. A 12 mile day usually involved park hopping or a short park day followed by DTD in the evening. But even an "easy" day clocked in around 7 miles from the first time we left the room to the time we came back to go to bed. Don't mean to rain on your parade (so to speak) but if you are planning to work up to a day at the parks, I think you should remember all the other steps your poor feet will be putting in.

| Re: Steps/distance around the parks! Some good suggestions. I'm just looking for fun ways to "channel" the park experience. Kind of like finding some similar restaurants or activities. Distance doesn't bother me at all . . . we generally do a 2 mile walk in the morning and a 3-4 mile walk after getting home - the more we work the dog, the better he behaves! Thanks to everyone!
