Dining Plan Question

i know that there are a lot of pros to the plan, but i was wondering if it would be worth it. my next trip will be in 2013. I have been saving at least $100 a month since march. i would have enough money for the DDP. I am probably going to be there for 5 days. My question is, would it be possible to only have the DDP for 2 days instead of the whole trip? i would like to do a character breakfast at the crystal palace so i can see an almost empty Main Street and then a dinner as well.

The way I eat at Disney having the plan for 5 days wouldn't seem worth it, i would be forcing myself to eat just because i have the credits. My typical meal plan at disney is something from the hotel for breakfast, a snack, and just a quick service meal for dinner. Nowhere near the $39.99 a day.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dining Plan Question

If you think that the dining plan may be too much food, consider the quick service only dining plan.

Re: Dining Plan Question

Yeah, the quick service plan may be better for you. The only problem would be that you would have to pay out of pocket for the sit down meals you would like. I don't think that you can choose how many days you can do the Dining Plan for - it's typically just the nights you book is how many credit you get. However, what you can do is you can book two separate vacations, but it gets so complicated what you can and can't do that it will end up costing you money.

Re: Dining Plan Question

From what you say your Disney eating habits are, the Disney Dining Plan may not be a good fit for you. You may actually save money by not having the dining plan and just paying out of pocket for your two table service meals, and wherever else you decide to eat.

You cannot choose how many days you have when adding the Disney Dining Plan to your Magic Your Way vacation. If your booking is for five nights - then your dining plan is for five nights as well.

Of course, you could always go during a "free dining" promotion, and then you could eat all you wanted!

Re: Dining Plan Question

Thank you all for the help. this is why the WDW Radio Forums are the best. I was just curious to see what other people thoughts were about the DDP. I certainly would not like to pay twice for tax on the same vacation. to quote Mr. Burns "I'd be happier with the dollar". This means I can get more Mr. Potatohead pieces or just save it for the next trip.

Re: Dining Plan Question

Though, if you really wanted to do a 2 day dining plan, you could do 2 different room reservations. One for 2 days, the other for the remainder of the trip. not sure how much hassel that entails, but it's an option...
