| New Years Vacation I've just started pondering the possibility of going to Disney at the end of the year when it's easier to take time off. My wife and I hate dealing with New Years Eve so I realized maybe a vacation would be an idea. My thought is to head down a day or two before NYE so that we minimize how much time we spend in the Holiday price range. I understand that value season starts Jan 1 and since I want to stay at a deluxe this time. I have a few questions about such a trip: 1. When is the transition from the holiday decorations to normal? And does that transition intrude upon guests (I.e. Workers taking time to remove decorations). 2. Are there good deals available for that time for a couple spending a week at a deluxe resort (given the economy)? 3. How's the weather? 4. How's the experience that time of year? I'm not that concerned about the NYE part since just being there is enuff!! But I don't want to be there during a lot of closures or rehabs. (I imagine crowds are pretty light in early January) thanks!! J

| Re: New Years Vacation My mother and I went to WDW in early January two years ago and I LOVED it. The weather can be kind of chilly in the mornings and evenings, so I would bring a jacket, but during the day it was gorgeous and relatively no humidity. The crowds are at a great level too (we went a couple days after the 1st, so I don't know how actual new years day is at Disney). I think our longest wait was 20-30 minutes? It was really enjoyable. The decorations are definitely still up at that time. The cast members take down the decorations at night, so it does not interfere with your Disney experience. I can't comment on any deals for that time of year. Um, and as for any rehabs, check allears.net to see if any have been released yet. I'm so jealous you are going at that time of year and have fun! |

| Re: New Years Vacation Right after New Years the parks really do thin out. The decorations slowly start to fade away - you almost don't notice that they're gone, because it's fairly gradual. The weather in January can be just about anything - so be prepared for everything (including chilled to the bone rain) and you will be just fine. There are no deals out for January yet, but we should be seeing them by next month, I would think!
