Tips for short 3day trip

We are going to WDW in December for the weekend. (DH has a trade show) We will be arriving Friday afternoon and coming home Sunday afternoon.
If we wanted to go for the evening on the Friday to see fireworks would we have to pay full price or is there an "after 4pm" or evening price? I would be going to the park on my own on Saturday and my DH and I would be going for a while on Sunday. (I am going to get a 2day and DH will be getting a 1day regardless).

Second question. I have always wanted to take one of the tours. Which ones would you recommend?
Thanks
Donna

Re: Tips for short 3day trip

Unfortunately Disney doesn't offer any reduced pricing for later admissions.

What you may want to consider for Friday, if you don't want to pay admission for a few hours (and I don't blame you - that is a lot of $$) would be to have dinner @ the Ohana (Poly) or California Grill (Contemporary if I remember right) around fireworks time. Then you can catch the show from there after/before a nice supper. That way you can enjoy the Wishes w/out the admission.

As for the tours... that is tough to answer. What are you looking for? I'm assuming this is just for you the day your DH is @ his conference? Or is it for both of you? How much time do you have/want to invest in it? Do you want something in the parks? Or outside that won't require the additional admission cost? And are you comfortable w/a lot of walking? They have simple 1 hour tours up to full day events that require you to walk several miles.

It may be worth checking out All Ears website & seeing what matches up best w/what you are looking for.

Re: Tips for short 3day trip

We are actually planning to go to Ohana on the Friday night for dinner. Is there a good time to go? We were at Ohana for breakfast our last trip and loved it. Can you see some of the fireworks from the restaurant?

I would be going on the Saturday on my own. I am a former cast memeber but there is a garden tour I think. I just want to know what people have taken and what they liked or disliked about it.

From what I understand you can see the fireworks from there. If you really want to see the fireworks during supper the trick is getting an ADR that runs around the same time as Wishes and getting a good window seat.

For our upcoming trip DH & I plan for an earlier supper (7p) and then we are going to the beach for the fireworks & water pagent parade. They do (from what I'm told) pipe the music for the fireworks into the beach. I figure that way we won't be disappointed by a non-window seat or anything else that could go wrong at the restaurant.

I think the dinner followed by watching the fireworks on the beach is more of a sure thing than hoping for a window seat. You'll also enjoy the music on the beach as well.

I agree, that is a much better idea! That is what we are going to do.
