| If you have to go in the summer... I've stated on here before that two of my girl friends and I are planning a trip to WDW. Orginally we were looking at the end of May or early June when we know it won't be too crowded. Now my one friend may be getting a job (yayy) in teaching and because of the NYS school schedule, she wouldn't get out until late June, so we would be looking at a late June or July, or maybe even early August vacation. Obviously this is peak season and will be more crowded. Any suggestions on the best time to go during peak? I have a couple of weddings to attend in different states, so that also plays into consideration (July 31st, and Aug. 14th.) I know food prices are also higher during this time, and flights seem to be a little higher also. Are there any teacher's out there? Would you recommend her trying to take some time off even though she would have just started (it would be elementary ed.) One of her possible jobs has summer session, so that even limits us even more.

| Re: If you have to go in the summer... Hi Be11e, I am a teacher in NYS and have gone to the happiest place on earth many times during the summer. I have gone in July and August (various times) and it has always been fantastic!! In fact we are going in July again this year. As for your friend, as a new teacher, I wouldn't recommend taking time off from his/her new school. Sometimes absences are unavoidable, but in this case, the summer session usually is a short period anyway and it may not look "good" to a prospective employer if he/she is looking for a long term position....Usually there is a week between the end of one school year and the start of summer school plus 2 1/2 to 3 weeks from the end of summer school and the beginning of the new school year. That way, it wouldn't interfere with your weddings either! Check the school calendar for the session dates and that may help in your decision also. Good luck! |

| Re: If you have to go in the summer... CAN she take time off? I'm in teachers college and my Mom and 5 of my aunts and 2 uncles (and about a dozen cousins haha) are teachers in Ontario, and you CANNOT take time off, unless it's a REALLY good reason (like a death, or a very serious illness). My mom isn't allowed to even take ONE stinking Friday off before our spring break to go to Florida (everyone else going has the Friday off and want to leave thursday night). And she's been teaching for 27 years at the same school! Anyways, definitely if you can go at the middle-end of August. I've gone twice during this time and line ups were not bad at all (way better than when we go on the Spring Break- the only other time our teacher-family can go). The parks are usually also open till a good time (I've used EMH and been at the MK till 2am in August). The only thing is that its really hot, but I'm sure July will be just as bad, if not worse. A lot of the schools go back by this time so that helps crowds a lot (so long as her school doesn't go back by then as well). |

| Re: If you have to go in the summer... I frequently go in the off season; however, I had to go in August last time. I have found it crazily hot and terribly crowded. We really might not get much done. So, I suggest to you that if you want more crowded tour this time truly suitable for you. Best Regards, |

| Re: If you have to go in the summer... To the teachers, thanks for your imput. I didn't know how strick they were. My boyfriend is studying for his Masters in Teaching and interning at a school as a substitute teacher (in CT) and the teachers there seem to take a lot of time off. I don't expect my friend to take off in this case. Welovethemouse - what are some tips that you have for going to Disney in July that makes your trip fantastic.
