We would like to get to Disney before things start closing for the new Fantasyland and Toontown is gone, so May works well for us.

It is almost the end of January and we don't have alot of time to plan or money to spend. We will be driving from Ohio and hoping to spend 6 days in the parks. Prefer Parkhopper, but is it necessary? I like to be able to go from park to park. Also, if we stay off-site, can anyone recommend any clean, cheap hotels. I have stayed in some pretty bad hotels on Irlo Bronson and really don't want to go through that again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. We would like to make this dream come true this year. Hopefully, if we make it, it is during a Meet so we can meet some other Disney Nuts like us.

Thanks
I've been in your boat before PLUS, as you can tell, I have made the drive from Ohio to WDW! I suggest getting a hotel via Priceline.com, hotels.com or travelocity.com. I've booked with the first two for a trip to WDW and we were more then happy with the outcome. I booked a hotel with the last for Daytona Beach and it was great! Priceline's name your own price allows you to check the level of accommodations (ie. 1, 2, 3 or 4 stars) and doesn't let you see which hotel chain you get until after you've paid. PM me for more tips on that.

I wouldn't waste money on the Hopper tickets. One park per day with a break in the middle if you need it is the way to go. Buy your tickets in advance through Undercover Tourist for a small break OR hit the Kissimmee WalMart when you get there and buy tickets at the ticket booth in the store.
