I am going to Disney World this comeing New Years, and have never been here on this time of year. My question is how to avoid rhe crowds as best as posible. I know that you cant completly avoid the crowds, but any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
We will be spending New Years eve in Epcot by the way.
How do I handle the parks around New Years time? By avoiding them at all costs.
Epcot's probably the last place you'd want to be, crowd-wise on NYE.
Go to Animal Kingdom that night. The park's closed, so crowds should be light.
Christmas through New Years, there are heavy crowds no matter how you spin it. We got up early. Went back to the hotel around noon or one, took a break and went had dinner and closed whatever park stayed open late.
New Years Eve is just miserable if you plan on being a commando. The main attractions have lines that snake everywhere. Hours long. We countered that by planning on doing the off-attractions. I.E. CoP, TikiBirds, carousel, you get the idea. The attractions that many skip, we filled our evening with.
We watched the fireworks from the sidewalk area just in front of the boat docks outside the turnstiles. It was fantastic. We saw everything and yet we only had a few dozen people around and were able to get a seat on the bus back to the hotel. Perfect. You just need a different, preplanned approached to that day. The rest is manageable.
Note: We only did Epcot for the Millennium. An evening never to be repeated. It was nutty. Wall to wall bodies for the millennium.

We went over Christmas break on my orchestra/band trip. We had New Years Eve at MGM. I thought it was so magical. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. My friends and I watched the fireworks near the exit and we got out of the parks at a reasonable time. Honestly, I don't think that crowds are a big deal when you're at WDW with the people you love. Some of the best memories were us just being us. So don't let crowds get you down!
