Depends on the time of year and when the EMH is.
I went to Epcot this past summer when they had morning EMH.. I was there for the EMH but left earlier.. like around 1-2. I try to avoid Magic Kingdom when they have EMH because everyone goes at the same time. Now take into consideration I went in the summer. It could be different in other seasons!
I usually do go to the parks that are having EMH all day long. I usually try and hit all the shows and the more low key attractions during the day and then hit all the big name attractions during EMH. Although I do enjoy coming into parks during EMH. Both are good options in my opinion, its all personal preference. I never really notice an increase of crowd levels on days that a park has EMH.
We usually avoid the early EMH. We have taken advantage of the later hour. But, I don't see a difference in the crowds - with so many people staying on property - doesn't seem to thin out the masses. We are heading down in March - Music Days AND ESPN weekend - should be crowds galore so we hope to take advantage of some EMH somewhere!!
We normally visit the park that had EMH the night before. For example, if MK had EMH on Friday, then we will visit MK on Saturday. This plan always seems to work for us in avoiding the most crowded park.
We were at WDW Thanksgiving week last year. We hit the MK when they had EMH at night. It was great! The only drawback was that I ended up carrying my 8 year old daughter across the park when she passed out at 1 am. She had a BLAST, so it was worth it!
We love EMHs and plan our trips to the parks around them!
I avoid parks with the early EMHs, but if I have a park hopper (or AP as I do right now) then the night EMHs are great! Especially when the park is open till 2 or 3am, you can have a nap during the busy part of the day and then head down at night and every time I've done it it's been completely dead and no lines (especially during that last hour or two).
If we don't have a hopper we do the park that had the extra hours the day before (like nc wdw daddy said) and that's always worked out great. So if everyone goes to the MK for extra magic hours, the theory is that a lot of them won't go the very next day :)
It depends:
If it's during the busy season, I don't go because that park tends to get too crowded. If it's off season, then I definitely go for the morning EMH because the parks do not get really crowded later in the day, so I take advantage of the extra time!
I do like to do the night EMH during the busy season.
We use a trick we heard about in another forum. We visit the park with the extra morning hours and stay until the park starts to get crowded (usually around 11) and then we head back to the resort for lunch and a nap. We then go to the park with the extra evening hours. It usually works out pretty good for us that way.
I used to plan specifically around them but now we just enjoy coincidental EMHs as multiple factors now drive day/park selection.
Only a matter of time before Disney starts charging hotel guests for EMH. I'm shocked that fast pass is still free.
i see... im more of a night person so when i go in late August i like walking MK at midnight and not feeling rushed about... plus a 1am ride on carousel recharges the batteries and a 2am HM ride is awesome...
