Re: OCD on trip planning!
Depends on how far out we can book, and what ressies are most important. If you are shooting for a really hard to get one, get it first and rearrange your park days. Don't try to fit your restaurants into your park days, it doesn't always work.
Re: OCD on trip planning!
I start planning as soon as I know how many days we can go for. After all, you have to plan things out thoroughly if you want to get all the important things in :-)
Re: OCD on trip planning!
Last trip had to be planned one month prior as we made a late decision to go. Everything worked out just fine.
Re: OCD on trip planning!
I start planning for the next trip pretty much within a week of returning from the last one. I start watching for specials etc. etc. and keep an eye out for when things will be closed or just re-opened etc. etc. I am also VERY OCD when it comes to my planning. Each trip involves a huge book of info and spreadsheets I've made up detailing everything from park hours, showtimes, dining plans, closures, resort info, etc. For me... half the fun is in the planning! :)

Im so in your camp... I love the planning - definitely part and parcel of the trip. I booked this trip August 2011 to go August 2012... as we coming over from the UK lots of thought needs to be put in plus the cost (approx $6,800 for two of us... but mainly due to flights grrr virgin atlantic) but as got DDP should only need shopping cash. Im aiming to get ADRs started 180 days out too :mickeykid
Re: OCD on trip planning!
You're going at a pretty good time of year, all things considered. I don't think you've got anything to worry about.
Aside from Test Track being open. ;)
Don't know why counter service would be of any concern.

But I'm gonna be doing a LOT of praying TT opens on sept 1st - lol!
Only downside to august is weather related particularly humidity  but crowds should be quiet as florida school children are back at school :D

Since they are saying "fall 2012" and the autumn equinox isn't until September 22nd, I think you're out of luck my dear.
Me... whenver Dis gives a date by referencing a season, I always assume it's gonna be last the day of that season. So that'd be what... sometime in December then? LOL

Yep. Weather-wise you couldn't pick a worse time to be there. But, I made it for 32 years. You can make it for a few days. :)
