Hey Everyone,
My wife and I are seasonal pass holders and will be living in Orlando next year. My question is, is there anywhere that we can park to avoid having to pay for parking but without breaking the rules? For example, I'm pretty sure you are not supposed to park at the resorts if you are not staying there, but does Downtown Disney have shuttles that take you to the park? Is there any other way around having to pay for parking each time?
Downtown Disney does not have buses to the theme parks. You aren't supposed to park at resorts but I do know some people do that instead of paying for parking. For my last trip, it was cheaper for me to buy an annual pass than pay for parking- we were staying off property. Only one of you would need it. Don't know if that is an option. Good luck!
I have heard of people taking shuttles from DTD to a resort and then hoping a bus to the parks. It's frowned upon and could get you in trouble if you're caught.

We will be staying off property for the first time and renting a car in Aug. We will have dinner reservations at some resorts and would like to just visit. What do you tell the guards at the resorts if you just want to look around or maybe shop?
There is nothing wrong with visiting a resort, for the purpose of actually visiting it. The security will just give you a 3-hour parking pass (usually), and all is well.

No...but it's not right to the people who PAID to stay at the resort, if they are not able to find a parking spot. Plus, cars have been towed before (just throwing that out there).
Don't try to cheat. It makes you look like an inconsiderate baboon, and as Joanna stated above, it may end up ruining the "magic" for someone else. If you can afford to go to WDW, you can afford to pay for the parking.
Its only $14 I think, the cost of a coke inside. lololol I would be worried all day about my car getting towed or ticketed and that would ruin the fun, if I tried to avoid the charges.
Another excellent point. Most times when you cheat you're anxiety levels are higher because you're worried about potentially getting caught.
Actually, they would. The last time we drove to WDW and stayed on property, we were given a hanging tag when we checked in at the resort to hang in our vehicle. It's what also allowed us to not pay for parking at the Parks as well. Now the issue would be would Disney enforce this? I don't know how extensive Disney Security patrols the resort lots looking for parking violators so my guess is someone would have to report you. And then if they can find out for certain you aren't a Resort Guest, your vehicle would be towed. So weigh out the $14 parking fee versus the $100+ tow bill you would find yourself with.Quote:

If people think parking at WDW is expensive I'd encourage them to try parking at a hotel in any big city in the country for only $14 a day.
I would consider how many times you plan to visit throughout the year. An annual pass is about $140 more than a Seasonal Pass. If you plan on making more than 10 visits you'd basically recoupe the additional cost of an annual pass. Also, you get more benefits with the annual vs seasonal towards shopping and dining.
Bottomline, you need to look at the benefits of each and base your decision on where you place more value.
