    POP vs AoA

Planning my very first visit to WDW for my husband and I in Jan 2014. We are planning to spend almost all of our time in the parks. Please give us advice between staying at Pop Century and Art of Animation.

    Re: POP vs AoA

I agree with TG. Another reason to stay at Popover AoA is the crowd level. AoA was crazy busy when we were there, probably because of the newness of the whole thing. One night we were leaving MK, they were bringing in unmarked charter buses to cart folks back to AoA.

We have never stayed at AoA but our daughter is a cast member and she says it is very nice. Of all the value resorts we like PC best. We have stayed there 3 times and will go back. Have fun!

    Re: POP vs AoA

Stay at Pop. for 2 people a family suite is not needed leaving your best AoA option The Little Mermaid wing. As much as I love TLM that wing is the furthest from the food court and bus stop. When your feet are in a ton of pain after a day in the park the trek to the room seems like 10 miles.

Haven't stayed at either, but I would probably perfer AoA, much for the same reason I would choose Movies over Music and Sports. If I want to stay in WDW, I might as well be surrounded with Disney stuff. Pop, Sports, and Music aren't "Disney" enough for me.

Really? ON our last two trips were right behind the giant Tramp statue. Seemed rather Disney filled to me!

Lady & Tramp are at Pop. Baloo & friends, Roger Rabbit, Goofy. It is a mix.
    Some people are like Slinkies.

They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.

Ah, OK. Glad Disney found a way to incorporate characters into that hotel, then. I don't remember those statues. Just the giant Rubix Cubes and Pacman railings. But 4 big statues (one in each decade, I would imagine) doesn't add up to overly Disney, if you're going for glitz.

Then again, I only stay at Wilderness Lodge (plus one day at Saratoga) and neither of those are very Disney anyway.

I do get what you are saying though. AoA certainly surrounds you in Disney themes. I'd love to stay in one of the family suites but it's a little cheaper to pick up two connecting rooms at Pop versus a suite at AoA. For a "value" resort, it's priced out of our range.

And there, I'm not sure I'd want a themed room. The exterior is fine. You're at a theme park. But if you can't escape to your room and get away, then where is the escape at all?

Both resorts rooms are themed inside, more over the top at AoA.

    Pop

    and then AoA

I think it is more personal taste. I need to retreat to rooms like the Mansions at POR (not the Princess rooms either.)

I just need a place for my eyes to be able to rest and chill at night.
