Surfing at Typhoon Lagoon?

Has anyone done the surfing at Typhoon Lagoon and what are your thoughts on it?

I attempted to but you have to go before the water park opens. I don't know if you have to make an advanced reservation.

Called the Recreation line....its $135 per person at you have to be there at 5:45am with lessons starting at 6am.....the cast member suggest calling the resort that your staying at to see if they offer a shuttle for things like this that early or take a taxi over.
