It was only open as part of the 50th Birthday Celebration. Once the celebration ended the site was supposed to close.

It's sad. Honestly, I think that Disney lost a lot of popularity when they dropped VMK. It was the only game of it's kind, and I wish there were more like it. So great, but now it's gone. -Sigh-

With all due respect, while VMK was fun, I don't think Disney became less popular because it closed down. Disney is still doing very well, even with the economy.

Hmmm... Point well taken. I do know a lot of people who were very angry about this. IMO, VMK was one of the better online games that Disney has produced over the years. I was a beta tester, so I was pretty upset when it closed. But, in retrospect, it was a good move. With the economy taking hits as it did, it wouldn't have been very beneficial to keep running a free online game.
