Hi there! The first day is all about checking in. You get the apartment complex you will be staying at, you get the housing ID, you will get signedup for the HUB (the cast member website), and a couple others I can't remember. There is also a housing meeting later in the day. You find out your work location on Day 2. Then Traditions is Day 3 (when you get the work ID, which is what gets you into the parks for free). Training usually starts Day 4 or 5.

Yep, when I brought my CP'er down that is about how I remember it.
That housing meeting was several hours and it messed with our plans to fill his fridge since he was in group #2. Check in was anywhere between 9am-l am. He figured he'd arrive in the middle. No harm but it put him in the 2nd session for housing meetings so he didn't have the afternoon free. A do over and he would have been there at 9.

My BF daughter did attractions. She was told MK as first info. There training the first day was to ride all the rides in the MK (and going to the front of all the lines, what a treat) then they were told which attraction/attractions they would be trained to operate. She had a blast.

Have the time of your life!!!
    Some people are like Slinkies.

They aren't really good for anything,
but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs.

Friends are Gods way of apologizing to us for our families.

Attractions is probably #1 on my list of roles. (Transportation is second... I'd love to do the Monorail or boats (if I remember correctly, the railroad has to be run by union members, but if not, that's #1 on the preference list for transportation. )...)

That's a good tip about stocking the fridge 1st day. Not only should we think about the money we need to bring to pay for the first 2 weeks, we need to make sure we know how to take care of feeding ourselves until then. (McD's 3 times a day is kinda harsh... ) Good info!

CPs can't drive the trains at MK. But they can be conductors.

Ok, yeah, I thought so. Oh well, Monorail is still an option.

    Thanks, Joanna!

is it the first two weeks or first 3 weeks you need money for?
cuz ive heard both. and how much money would you suggest to bring for those two/three weeks?

and ive also heard that if its two weeks we dont get charged rent the first week, but it instead goes on our bill for the next week. is that true?

and when exactly do we actually start getting a paycheck, the second week?
also, are checks distributed monthly? weekly?

    thanks!

You don't get your first paycheck until the 2nd week. That first paycheck is very small because they take both week's rent out of it. So really, up until the 3rd week paycheck, you're probably running off your own funds.

    Paychecks are weekly.

I think that answers all the questions.

Don't forget, there's a $100 application fee/apartment events fee that you pay up front upon acceptance (before you even get there). And depending on how you get there, driving you can take supplies with you, flying it would be a pain to, so you may need extra money to purchase what you need when you get down there.

Re: can anyone explain the first day for me??

    quick question for the vets,

im debating whether or not a parent shouldjoin me for the first day. I am more than self sufficient but its always good to have someone around. what did you guys think? those who did it with and those who did it without. What can they do with us or when we are in the meetings. to warn my family is not as into the Disney parks as I am.

I had my dad with me for the first day each of the 4 times I checked in. The first time, he stayed at Vista with me (he stayed in the family area while I checked in around Vista). But the last 3 times, and probably in Aug as well, he dropped me off then went back to the hotel to wait. I was glad I had him, because he helped me with getting all my stuff to the apartment, and when I went shopping later.
