Re: Getting Time off on the Program?

Getting time off usually isn't too hard, as long as you request the days off far enough in advance. The requests aren't guaranteed though. Also, during the holidays it is harder getting the days off (and expect to work the holidays). I don't believe there is a limit to requesting days off.

It seems as though people are so desperate for hours that its not hard to give them away.....you can even normally find someone at your work that wants your hours

Yeah, expect to work holidays. We have to work on the 4th, and I have a horrible shift on the 3rd (7-6:30, which is 11.5 hours.)

However, you can request time off. Apply by the deadline, and don't expect to get approved. You may, but it would be wise to not start making plans until you know for certain that your request has been approved.

Oh man I had one of the worst shifts for the 4th of July last year.....I started at 8:30 and didnt get off until close to midnight and for most of my day I was outside telling people that the fantasyland door was an exit not an entrance to CHH.......not fun

If they Cant give you time just ask for your days off in a row. So ask for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday that way you can still get for days off and but not not have to call out since the days off would be two different pay periods.

I would say that it depends on how early you put the request in and what your work location is. I put a time-off request in last saturday for July 24-27 and got it. But then again, my work location gives two to three days off a week.

The only way I got 4 days off at a time was going thursday, friday, saturday, and sunday. And even then it was dependent on the coverage that was available in my area on those days.

Once again Joanna is right on the money. I did it with at least a month's notice every time I would put in for an off-day for family or birthday and you do it early enough, there shouldn't be problems. From 2 weeks before schedules are put together, I'd be careful with as it has a toughchance from that point. However a point to think about, you MAY be off Holidays, IF find it is your one of your regular off days. I found that with the Fourth of July during my program. It was on a Tuesday which would typically be an off-day for me, so I was off from work.
