Find out before or wait to be surprised?
So, I have a friend who is currently in WDW for his CP. He said he's able to look and see where I've been assigned to work for mine in Attractions.
My question for those who have done it, if you could have found out before arriving at WDW, would you have? Or was the surprise of finding out when you were there more worth it?
And for anyone else, what should I do!? lol I'm tempted to say "Yes, please tell me!" but I also sort of want to be surprised. He did let me know it's indoors, which I'm thankful for, and he said he had a roommate who worked there and had a lot of fun. So, I'm optimistic either way.
Help! lol

Re: Find out before or wait to be surprised?
Wow! Decisions. I know my sons assignment was changed upon arrival.
When assignments were being revealed he was told 'you were going to be assigned here (and he was thrilled) but now we are going to put you here'...and he was bummed. Ultimately they told him to give it a week and if he was unhappy they would consider relocating him.
He was happy he was reassigned. He had a plum position for his role. So I guess my thought would be...I'd like to know where I would be going but stay guarded that that could change and brace yourself for it.
Then again, I've never been big on being surprised.

I say... You let him give you little hints, and you try to figure out what it is.. Like a game..

Just a warning- don't go posting about it if you do decide to find out beforehand (you can get in big trouble for doing that, as can your friend).

A very good point Joanna!
I was actually surprised that CM's could get their hands on that kind of info. Go figure.

Re: Find out before or wait to be surprised?
Indeed. The sharer of that confidential information could have been sent home on spot. Security gives you a couple hours to pack. Then escouts you to gate. New person could be sent home at check in.

Re: Find out before or wait to be surprised?
I kind of think that is unfair if that person didn't know. More so that they have to wait until check in to find out. At least give them the courtesy of tell them before they waste there money to fly or drive down there.

Re: Find out before or wait to be surprised?
How is it a waste of money if you applied for internship and were accepted?
Either you want to intern, or you don't.

Re: Find out before or wait to be surprised?
Its the fact that if you were considered termed before even getting there, why wouldn't they just tell you ahead of time? The topic of wanting the unternship or not is not the issue. I am pretty sure the person that did find out there job before hand really wants the internship

Re: Find out before or wait to be surprised?
There are many that are sent home near check in. That is when the background checks and finger printing are done. Disney doesnt care if you travel down and they send you home if you have violated any of their criteria. Many get terminated throughout their CP too for job and social violations. Disney deals with new CPs only on certain days, if something is flagged they will deal with you then. Others are sent home a couple days after if background check comes back icky. Not most efficient for CP but it is for Disney.
23 were sent home from my sons CP 12 hours after checkin for social infractions in 2007.

People aren't told because the locations aren't set in stone until after they arrive.

What would a "social infraction" be?? I imagine that Disney's standard is much higher than many other company's.
