In what company officials are calling the largest single-site resort complex to institute such smoking restrictions, Walt Disney World announced today it will ban smoking in all guest rooms, indoor public areas, balconies and other locations at all company-owned and -operated hotels, and all Disney Vacation Club resorts at Disney World. That is 20 properties altogether.

Good move on their part. As someone who is very sensitive to cigarette smoke, I hope they can enforce it.

It's not only a cost-effective move, but a healthier one for everyone. Maybe this way, smokers can lay off on killing themselves and harming others around them during their vacations. I have seen people @ WDW blow smoke right in their infants' and children's faces, how incosiderate!

And no more stinky hotel rooms! Nothing worse than a room that smells like old cigarette smoke when you're a non-smoker.

she has to do breathing treatments and can barely walk around without getting out of breath... but she will light that cig.. my mil and both my sil's smoke and 2 of them are on breathing treatments and inhalers and the other is on oxygen... go figure

I am a smoker, but when I'm at Disney World with the stress free relief, I don't smoke. I don't even bring cigarettes with me. Walking past the smoking areas just turns my stomach and to see those little children sitting in there waiting for their parents to finish, just sickens me. And maybe, the avid smokers will stay offsite to accomodate themselves, which in the long run, means more rooms for us!

AMEN! Now if they can just start enforcing the no smoking rule at the parks and get rid of the smoking sections that we have to walk through and past to get to attractions and rides!

Waiting in line for Space Mountain at Disneyland, this lady just stood right next to the queue and lit up. I am not sure where all the CMs were in that area, this is unrelated but kids were also climbing (or attempting to climb) allover the flower planters and up this slanted wall. I wasn't impressed with the parents who just let them to that and I really wasn't impressed by the adults who participated in the climbing.

The only negative i can see for this would be the fact that all the rooms that have been smoking for many years now become smoke free. So when you go you could get put in a smoke free room that still smell like 20 years of smoking has been done in it.

Please, let's not turn this thread into a debate about smoking or bashing all those who have blown smoke in our face while standing in line. Thanks.
