Construction at Contemporary

There is some major construction going on at the contemporary. I asked around the hotel and they all said they are building a major new building that will be around the size of the original. Wonder if that pic that Lou had is what they are doing after all?? Anyone have anymore info on this? Also curious if it will be DVC or just and add on for the hotel???? I will have pics of the construction to post in a few days.

It hasnt been confirmed yet, but the recent rumors are that it wont be a DVC resort. I have some pictures of the construction over in my trip report.

It looks like its gonna be taller than the actual building. If so I dont like it cause it will take focus away from the Contemporary

Is it just me or does it seem like everything is becoming DVC. I understand everything is a business but somethings are better left unchanged. ( and I am a timeshare owner in Aruba)

just leave the contemp, floridian, and poly alone and let them not be DVC resorts! Then it makes it harder for the rest of us to get a room at those resorts!

i like that idea. Those resorts are already somewhat exclusive anyway

On my last trip a couple weeks ago we had several CMs do everything but confirm it will be DVC. I'd almost put my money on it.

I heard from another site that it will be a totally separate hotel from the Contemporary. If so, I wonder if they will somehow connect the monorail to it?

I think those are pretty far out of reach for most of us anyway.

I think they need to add a new moderate resort before they add more deluxe rooms. All that said, I think the pics are gorgeous.

Building a new DVC Resort, (if in fact that is what it will be), will not effect anyone getting a room at the main hotel where You would still pay cash. That hotel is run by a different management department. You will still get to book a room in the A-Frame building as normal, if in fact the new building becomes DVC. Even DVC resorts can be gotten by paying cash. A certain amount of rooms are held out for cash purchases at all DVC Resorts.
