Illuminations: Sky Dance!

2009- Illuminations: Sky Dance - Rumor - 1/22/08 I don't know much about this yet, but I'm starting to hear rumors that a new version of Illuminations may be in the works to replace Reflections of Earth as early as 2009. The working title being tossed around is said to be Illuminations: Sky Dance and by no coincidence Don Dorsey's website does list something called Sky Dance as one of three current projects they are working on. Don Dorsey has had a long involvement with Disney's past big nighttime spectaculars: Reflections of Earth, Fantasmic, Sorcery In The Sky and even the original Main Street Electrical Parade. Anyone know more?

I'm sorry I can't substantiate the rumor; but in my humble opinion, it is time for a new fireworks show at Epcot.

I've been actually hearing about this for a few months now. If I remember correctly there was a relatively substantiated report from a CM about it somewhere.

I am all for it! Reflections of Earth has been around for a while and when you go as much as many of us you need new things to spice up your trips. So here is to hoping that they implement this at some point.

I really enjoy Reflections of Earth, but I agree that something fresh would be awesome. Epcot is such an amazing place at night and the lagoon and world showcase architecture (not to mention Spaceship Earth) make for a pretty amazing venue to create something spectacular. Does anyone have a details?

Sky Dance sounds kinda interesting, just the title. Makes me wonder exactly what they would do with it.

I still remember the old IllumiNations that was there before Reflections of Earth. That one had a lot of lasers. Maybe they're going to incorporate those in Sky Dance? Though if memory serves correctly one of the reasons they switched over to Reflections of Earth was because all the airlines were complaining about Epcot's lasers because they're pilots thought it was OIA whenever they flew over.

Unfortunately I fear this will be yet another one of those CM rumors that never comes to pass. I love RoE now but agree it's been around awhile and it's time to update. I could've sworn I read something that put some merit to these rumors back last year but I can't find it anywhere so I must've been imagining it.

I love ROE and I don't wan them to ever change it.

I can't imagine another version evoking the same kind of emotion in me that ROE does.

I think RoE has ran its course. The earth globe parts are way too long (quite like the video screen montages in WDW's Fantasmic!), the finale is not the best Disney has ever seen, and I think that the 'Big Bang' opening is too controversial with beliefs about creation. (Read the book of Genises) I think they should do one on the new decade coming up. (IllumiNations 2010: The Sky Dance) What do you think?
