I went to MK today, after watching the splurge show. I noticed quite a few of the personal guides for the first time. How long have they been running. I never knew WDW did that.

I wouldn't like having a personal guide. On the splurge show, the guide rode rides, saw shows and even ate dinner with the family! It looked like they had no time to themselves. I don't know if that kind of experience would be worth $100/hr, in my opinion.

I feel like if you've never been there, and you have no clue what to do or how to go about doing certain things, then that guide would be a good idea. But when you've been there before and know how to do everything and what you wanna see, there's no point to having that guide there with you. I wouldn't want a stranger (basically) vacationing with me, at least not in Disney. Plus the $100/hour that would be saved could be used to buy souvenirs!

P.S: I watched Disney Splurge last night....it wasn't so great.
I agree. The only part I liked was that it showed the suite in the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
As for the tour guides, they have been available for years. I don't think they used to have a six hour minimum at $100 per hour, though. The part where they said the guides can't get you front of the line access wasn't exactly true. If you are a celebrity with a guide, you bypass the regular line.

LOL! That's a good point. I think a lot of us on here would make great guides. We should get paid!!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one...I actually turned it off because I became disinterested. Just thought it was my tired brain losing focus.

I agree, the Disney Splurge show wasn't anything special, and there was nothing on there that hasn't been covered in previous travel shows... 100 bucks an hour for a VIP? That's not extravagant, it's borderline ridiculous!

I like that idea! My parents are always asking me to write up tips and attractions for first-timers or for them (since my family went without me this month
). I could make a lot of money just doing that, and I wouldn't have to wear a costume doing it, either! HAHA!!

Is it my imagination or did the "Disney on a Dime" show not really meet up to our expectations? I figured it would be all about saving money at WDW. I'll watch anything related to Disney but I don't really think the title matched the show. I almost thought it would be based on the book with the same name.

So last night I had my girlfriend over, and we were watching Disney on A Dime and I liked it but I did not like how the name was so misleading. I thought they were going to give us tips on how to save money and where to get tickets, and the cheapest restaurants, coupons, etc. But I still enjoyed it because it was Disney, so I don't really know what I'm complaining about...
Disney World is not just a place, but an experience.

I agree. The first thing my DS said was, "$1600! That's a lot of dimes!"
I felt it was misleading because they didn't mention how the money each family spent only covered the tickets, accommodations and dining. They didn't mention what it costs for the fishing excursion ($250), golf cart rental at FW ($47 +tax daily), Cirque tickets ($105.44 adults), pontoon boat rental ($33.00 per half hour) etc.
If they wanted to show how to really save money, they should have mentioned dates of when to book cheaper rooms, Annual Passholder discounts, resorts which accommodate more than four guests (aside from expensive FW cabins).
I believe the information on the show is the same as you would get by ordering the DVD directly from Disney.

This was my thought exactly. I was hoping to see tips from the "Disney on aDime" book put into real practice.
