I am guessing Al Weiss (Pres of WDW parks)
I too liked having something about the CM on the tag.

that's great that you put up a pic...i have a 2 yr old so i can get her familiar with the design so she wont be shy of the CM's...a lot of travel books suggest training?/telling the child to go to someone with a cast member tag on in case of emergency--lost, etc.--
she is a bit too young to understand this but will still be able to recognize the tag wearer as someone who is familiar
i love the new design...wonder what the others around the globe look like
hmmm...AL GORE.....lol
I can tell you that as a child who was once lost in Disney, this helped. My parents (I think I was about 4 at the time) told me if we get separated to go to someone at the desk of a store or with a name tag on.
I got lost somehow with my mom and sis while waiting in line at the Snow White ride, ended up what seemed to me WAY lost and panicking. I went to the bathroom and walked around, then remembered and walked in to a shop. Seemed like I had been gone for ages and walked for miles but as it turns out I was basically right across from the ride at the nearest souvenier shop.
I remembered what ride I had been waiting on when the CM asked me (I had seen the murals with the witch and dwarfs, as I recall) and she took me right there. By then, my mom was looking for me, but my dad was parked out front of the ride looking for me so it worked out.
I say it is never too early to familiarize your little one with a plan-can't hurt!
Now I paste my kids names, our cell number, and the hotel we are staying at in their shoe-I hear CM's are trained to look for such things when kids get lost, but I am not sure.

Really? I never would have guessed that! I was thinking it had to do with that song "You can call me Al"...Originally Posted by olmec26

As long as the kids know where they are. I have seen them write with sharpies on the kids themself.Originally Posted by DissyLove

exactly, there are much better ways.
Yes, like those leashes I see families wear...
Not a fan of that, sorry.

I can't say I'm a fan of putting a leash on a kid, but I can see their value. Keeping a 2 or 3 year old in a stroller all day isn't realistic, and they can be very fast on their feet in a crowd. They don't have to go far to be in danger. In a place like a theme park where there are so many distractions and things competing for a parent's attention, plus travel fatigue, heat exhaustion, and long days, it is just too easy for a child to get away from mom and dad. A leash is no substitute for a parent's diligence, but in some cases it can prevent a disaster.Originally Posted by DissyLove
There are many children with speech & language delays, autistic spectrum disorders, or learning disabilities that would prevent them from giving their information to a cast member.
I think I'd much rather put up with the dirty looks that leash-using parents get than experience that panic of a lost child.
Sorry for the soapbox. I'll get down now.
