Over in another thread (http://www.disneyworldtrivia.com/for...et-prices.html) we were discussing the whole 8/3 increase rumor. I'm happy to see a rumor be true but not thrilled about what it means. Still, it all makes me even gladder to have gotten our tickets for January 3 weeks ago.

Makes it difficult for a larger family to go! Not surprised though.

I just wonder where the price cap will be.

For our trip in October, we have to buy a 1 day ticket for each of us so that we can get the dining plan. That one day will cost us $276 for the 4 (2 adults and 2 kids) of us!!!! It really is sad that the parks have gotten SO expensive.

If it wasn't for the fact that we already had 3 park hopper no expirations left, we would probably be spending only 1 day in the parks.

This is a slippery slope that Disney is going down. They need the cash to keep making improvements and adding attractions to the parks, but they are going to price themselves out of their target market.

I have to admit that I looked at Universal for this trip since I can get a 7 park to park ticket plus Wet n. Wild admission for $95 each!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Disney and will continue to go there, but, I have already reduced my number of trips (we used to go at least once a year. Sometimes just for a quick day trip, drive down, park the next day, drive back) It has now been 2 years since our last visit and if the ticket prices keep going up, it will likely be a couple years until our next visit.

I wish I had known about this sooner so I could have bought the tickets for our December trip. Thankfully this is just a small price increase, so it won't make that much difference.

I have learned now that if you know you're going to go often, by your tickets when you have the money... don't wait. I'm SO glad I decided to buy tickets in July for a January trip because I missed this increase. Going forward, I think at tax time, I'll buy tickets again for whenever the next trip will be. Whenever I have the extra money I'll grab some because we all know... there is no such thing as a cap in this country.

That's a good idea. We have always bought our tickets at the hotel after we arrived in Disney World. I suppose that from now on I'll be buying the tickets early so I don't get affected by another price increase!

I know Disney has to cover costs, but with gas as "cheap" as it is, Disney should try to lower some of their prices to attract more people.

That was exactly my point in the above mentioned thread... you'd think to stimulate the economy a bit they'd do that. But, I suppose the economic troubles we see also impact Disney so they had to do the opposite. Ultimately all their product is shipped to them so I'm sure they've seen price increases from the companies they work with and had to pass them on to maintain the status quo.
