TS / Hurricane Fay - Park updates

Disney has adjusted park hours for Tues Aug 19th to prep for the Storm.

All 4 theme parks to open at 8am
DisneyQuest to open at 9am
AMC Theaters to open at 10am

No official closing times have been announced. Depending on the track all parks may close early.

Just adding to that... World Showcase is opening at 10am... an hour early also!

I first thought about WDW when I heard the news of Hurricane Fay. I hope nobody is hurt and everything remains intact throughout WDW.

Updated: 8:14 p.m. A tropical storm may or may not reach hurricane strength before it makes landfall in southwest Florida, but its new path takes it directly over Central Florida.

MK is expected to have some sort of parade around 12 noon. If the wx is bad most likely The Rainy Day Parade. (Which I love btw!)

Does anyone know how our Disney friends are today? Just hoping all is well for everyone.

Disney stayed open. Outside attractions that could be affected by rain, closed, but other than that, the attractions stayed open their normal hours. It's a lot of rain and wind.

Looks like TS/Hurricane Fay isn't done with us yet, as the new path has it coming back above us as a Hurricane, so hopefully it won't be too bad...

However, looks like Disney will be getting rain for the next 48 hours or so.

Just checked out weather.com for Orlando and WDW. As of this moment just a lot of light rain with 19 mph winds gusting to 31mph. If this is the worst of it, the World should be OK. Some tornado and flooding SE of Orlando.

On a lighter note. I'm glad I didn't book that trip with free dining for this week. But I guess that a wet WDW is better than no WDW at all.

Here is a weather station just off to the southeast of property. It is updated every few moments. Been steady 15-20 with wind, constant light rain.

The area that has been hit hard is in Brevard County. I'm in Osceola and so far, it's just been lots of wind and rain. Apparently, Disney has only received about 3" of rain since tropical storm Fay. It should start to be fizzling out by the weekend. It hasn't had a huge affect on Disney because my friend works for Disney and she hasn't said anything about changes to Disney. Just down here, we do get a lot of constant news coverage. It interrupted my show that I was watching (Ellen)! I wasn't too happy about that. However, no major damage. Just people who live on the coast have received the most damage as far as I have heard on the news.

Disney canceled many shows today including F!, Illuminations and possibly Wishes. Many of the parades were canceled as well.

They were out of Ft Lauderdale yesterday. I haven't heard if they made a decision on Sunday's cruise yet...
