    Question Tomorrowland Theater Construction

I know the construction area over by the old skyway stop is for the new Stitch attraction/show but does anyone know what the massive construction project in the old Tomorrowland Theater is for? At first I thought the reason it was blocked from view on the TTA was because they were maybe changing the stage a bit but then later in the day got a glimpse "behind the wall" and saw the entire thing is torn up and gone. The seats were in mangled piles and there was random construction mess everywhere.

The only think I've read about it, and I think it was somewhere here on the forums (or maybe one of the other couple that I follow), was that they were just getting rid of it to put in cast member parking. But I don't know how reliable that information is.

I don't think it is parking. I saw video posted recently from the TTA behind the walled area and whoever posted it referred to a new show or ride, I can't remember which. I will try and find it in my history. I don't recall if the video was on this site or another Disney site.

You might be thinking about the stitch stage area, the TTA goes right over it as well but that's over against the old skyway launch.

I hope you're right. It was extremely disappointing to hear that they were possibly eliminating a guest area, no matter how underutilized, to add a parking lot.

Lou talked about this area in one of his recent podcasts (and on the last LIVE videocast) and unfortunately, for now anyways, it is going to be used for backstage cast parking...who know what it will be in a few years though.

So basically from the Buzz queue line or outside COP you will be able to hear CMs getting in and out of vehicles.... yay.

Yes, unfortunately it is to be parking - for now. Some rumors are circulating that it is temporary - I think I heard that some other spaces are being lost, perhaps due to the SM refurb, and they needed to make up for them.

Longer term, who knows - but ther was a rumor last year or so that a new E-ticket would go in that would somehow span the area from Buzz to SM, but it wasn't specific enough about the fates of things like CoP.

I read on another forum that it was going to be construction staging/parking for all the beams and rails for the rehab of SM.

I don't mean to sound nasty, but that area was never used. And there are parking spaces close to the park now anyway. IDK personally I would love another attraction, but I am just glad that Disney is going to use the space. It was sucha waste before.
If you can Dream it, the you can do it!

My only hope is that we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by a mouse

I'm not sure what you are referring to exactly. What area was never used?

The Galaxy Theater stage is being torn out to put in/relocate parking, or use for staging, or whatever, but its becoming a backstage area for now. The stage WAS used.

The area next to the Skyway building? That was open area, and perhaps a waste, but it is not becoming parking - it is becoming the stage for the new Stitch show (and thus, an attraction).

I was surprised at the amount of construction being done for the new stage. It looks to be fairly substantial; I saw cement blocks.

Space Mountain better not be closed on my next trip. I will be VERY VERY displeased. Does anyone know how long or when its scheduled to be down? And to be on topic, it would make sense that the stage area would be for SM refurb.

It closes on 4/19 (the day we arrive) and is currently scheduled to be down until November, although that end date is somewhat fluid.
