Re: NEW Photo of Fantasyland Refurb (Scale Model Photo)

Im excited.... It's more of what renovations that include characters should be. You should be walking around in different, somewhat natural unreal environments...rocks, buildings, like the character's have been living there for a LONG time, not like the space was built for them. Like they found the space and improved on it. I'm excited!!

Re: NEW Photo of Fantasyland Refurb (Scale Model Photo)

The show building for the Little Mermaids attraction looks huge!!!!!

The blog that was previously mentioned had the pictures broken down so that you can really tell what it what. It helped me a lot to figure it all out.

I was a little surprised that Cinderella is going to have a country chateau (since she already has a castle).

They also mentioned that rumors are circulating that Goofys Barnstormer could be a Snow White Dwarfs Mine Ride, but also maybe a Casey's Circus Train ride with it being near the Dumbo setup.

I can't wait to get more details.

This has it all broke down in sections. Very helpful.

Re: NEW Photo of Fantasyland Refurb (Scale Model Photo)

does anyone have a timescale for the work to begin. We missed out on Toontown last year and really hope to see it in October. Starting to wonder if we'll be too late?

No timetable has been announced. Work has already begun, however, in the backstage area that will become part of the expanded Fantasyland.

Toontown will eventually close since quite a bit of work will need to take place there, but we don't know when yet.

Very cool, plus it'll be nice to get a little breathing room since Fantasyland is always the most crowded.

Re: NEW Photo of Fantasyland Refurb (Scale Model Photo)

I hope to visit Toontown one last time this Friday. After last weeks podcast, I have a renewed interest. Oops, the interest is a tad bit late. Still, I better get it in while I can.

Re: NEW Photo of Fantasyland Refurb (Scale Model Photo)

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I think it's going to be awesome and I can't wait to see it all done.

On the other hand, we had so much fun playing in Mickey and Minnie's houses! I will miss them!

Also I'm not looking forward to the construction walls.....

Admittedly not knowing ALL the details, I've very often wondered the same thing. Why couldn't they just make the park that much bigger?
Maybe there are reasons like "We can't make the park too big because so many people bring their small children here and it would get too daunting for them". New, fun, transportation options might be a solution there, though...! More imagineering fun!!!
We were only to Mickey's Toontown Fair once, but what a treat!
Walt always said that Disneyland and WDW and all the other resorts and parks would always be changing and, indeed they should, but, referring to WDW, he also talked about "the blessing of size", too. Although the argument can be made that he meant most of that in regards to keeping the park far seperated from the "outside" world, I'm sure he also meant it in terms of future expansion, as well.
Maybe most of this will be erased in my mind when we visit the new Fantasyland in the future. I surely hope so!
