Cinderella's Golden Carrousel changing!!!

Well for me this is a disappointment.

Disney renames Cinderella's Golden Carrousel, Disney News - WDWINFO.COM

They will be changing the name so that the carrousel is owned by PRince Charming. Apparently they have come up with a new backstory too.

What do people think about this small change?

What next? Changing the name of the Castle!?! I hope not

Negatory on the Castle name change. But I HAVE heard it rumored that they will be doing extensive excavating below the Castle for what is to be known as the "Prince-Not-Quite-as-Charming-as-Everyone-Thinks Man Cave Bar and Grill".

I get why they are doing it, bcos the new Cinders cottage will be the other end of new fantasyland as so distant from the carrousel. Just seems a little pointless to me.

I'll still use its original name bcos tht is what i have come to known, just like ppl still use the WEDway people mover instead of the TTA.

Its only a name change right? They changed the names of other things.....remember Epcot CENTER???? And Disney-MGM Studios?

I don't get it, why don't they leave some things alone (ex. TTA), what's the point. I think the criteria for being an Imagineer must of changed from what it was. I wish they would put their efforts elsewhere (maybe a new ride for the whole family). Also I wonder how much something like a simple name change will cost? With all the cutbacks couldn't they find a better way to spend that money?

What I don't get is why this is even an issue? It's a basic carnival ride with Disney music piped in. To be totally honest, I don't think I've ever once referred to it as Cinderella's anything. On every single trip, it's always been... "Hey, do you want to ride the carousel? No? OK then, where to next...?"

I dont think its being debated per se, I think it was just a fan of the ride expressing anguish over the fact. I can ride the carousel whether it belongs to Prince Charming or Cinderella.....

Disney is just doing this to "fix" or change the backstory... thats really all it is... and personally i really dont pay close enough attention to the name of the carousel... hardcore Disney fans will notice, but i think the majority may never even mention it past, "oh they changed the name... oh well"

I don't get the fuss. On my TwitterFeed, all the Disney fans i'm connected to, the blogs and fan sites, etc. have been tackling this for a few days. And i'm pretty sure most are grown men. I hadn't realized the carousel even had a name until this week. Maybe it's unfair that i'm a thirtysomething male from New Jersey who has no fondness for the type of carousel he can find on the boardwalk. I always skipped past it and went right to the submarines or Peter Pan.

I'd be more concerned if they renamed Carousel of Progress to Prince of Charming's Carousel of Progress.

I'm not certain anyone's even going to notice. Does anyone really read the sign outside the carousel to see what they're about to ride?
