Fantasmic and the Aptly Named Dragon

Hi Everyone,

I read that Murphy the Dragon has had malfunction and will be down for an indetermind time. Can anyone tell me if Fantasmic still runs as by the news story the dragon isn't called Murphy for nothing.

Full story:

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Fantasmic and the Aptly Named Dragon

On our last summer trip to WDW in '08 we saw Fantasmic. There was no Murphy but they did use a projected image on a water jet similar to what is used on PoTC to show Davy Jones.

Re: Fantasmic and the Aptly Named Dragon

I didn't realize the dragon was called Murphy. Is Murphy the "erector set" looking dragon or is he more like the dragon at DLR's Fantasmic?

Re: Fantasmic and the Aptly Named Dragon

It broke down just a few days ago. I'm not sure if they have an ETA on him being fixed

Re: Fantasmic and the Aptly Named Dragon

From the article that I read, the new dragon in California is the one that broke down. I understand that she's had A LOT of reliability issues; thus the cast nick-naming her Murphy (as in Murphy's Law). The article that I read was from the Orlando Sentinel's daily Disney webpage.

Maybe they are trying to take it easy on the dragon.

Re: Fantasmic and the Aptly Named Dragon

So long as the show keeps on, I was worried I might miss it of part of the attraction was broken. I'm already upset that there are such limited shows with American Idol taking over some of the slots - I'm really not a fan of any Idol or X Factore style show.

I don't think so. From what I've read, "Murphy" has had problems since she was installed and has never worked reliably. When it has worked, they say she was spectacular. Hopefully, they'll be able to get her fixed and running in a timely manner (unlike the Yeti ).

oh jeez lets not get into the yeti. it's something to do with a large part of it that they would need to remove part of the mountain to get to it or something like that.

Looks like Vadania you'll be in the parks while I'm there. Hope you have an amazing honeymoon
