Saw it this morning. Feel sorry for the child who has to grow up in that family.
As usual, if you only read the Sentinel headline you'll think the cast member is at fault
thats what i thought too just reading the headline
What ignorant parents. I have seen people get very angry late at night waiting on a bus, but never this angry. This is part of the reason why my wife and I take our sweet time getting out of the park because usually the first 2 buses to the resort will be packed and have several very angry parents.
What impressed me was the speed at which all the honourable, fit gentlemen standing in the vicinity rushed to the aid of the driver... oh wait a minute...
No one helped.
Put the bus driver on leave??? How about banning the guest that went bezerk?
Exactly.
I'm assuming it is a formality while an investigation is ongoing and - I would hope - to allow the driver some peace after his assault. I would not think it suggests any assumption of guilt or responsibility from the company's point of view whatsoever.
The latest news is the family has left the resort and the property and are not permitted to return.
I put on Facebook earlier that I don't think I could just stand by and videotape it. I would've jumped in to help. Everyone was yelling for security but I sure hope someone went to get them.
Funny thing is, why didn't they just walk to Epcot or take the boat?
I'm taking the bus driver's side here. He handled himself well, deflecting the attack without attacking and then calming the nutty guy down. No one got hurt.
I know Disney says the Guest is always right, but we've all seen cases where that isn't true. I hope the driver enjoys his paid leave and gets to come back without a reprimand. I'd give him a raise instead.
The thing that struck me as disconcerting is how long people were yelling for security and nobody came. It isn't like they were out on the road.
Without seeing what happened before the video started rolling it is a toss up. There is one point in the video where the driver, much bigger steps way into the guests personal space. Guessing that isn't protocol. And I have definitely been on buses that were more crowded than that one. Look at the windows, yes there are people standing but not that many.
Wonder how long they were all waiting for a bus?
i think the guest was just a easily angered guy.. because i know when you have to wait on the bus for a long time you get bugged.. but you dont choke someone out over it.. you do like me.. and jump another bus.. if he was going to epcot he could have went to studios then epcot or mk then epcot.. or just waited his turn.. force was not needed.. and begin choked out was probably the last thing that the poor driver thought was going to happen today.. cursed yes.. gave the finger.. yes. but it probably shocked him when that guy grabbed him and he went into defense mode like anyone would
I don't like waiting for a bus either, but I also don't like being on a bus that is so crowded that people are packed in. The drivers do the best they can under the circumstances. As a parent with a small child, don't you think they would rather have taken the next bus so they could have a seat for their child.
What were these people thinking. I don't care how tired or agitated you are, there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for the guests behavior. None. It was entirely unacceptable. If the bus driver tells me to wait for the next bus, that's what I'm going to do.
I'm glad the driver is being paid while on leave. He probably needs a few days off to recover from the stress.
