I think is just a testament to the attractions that were being created by Disney and a universal "measuring stick" if you will that was so ahead of it's time that it is still useful!

Agreed. Don't want to create the impression I am against it, far from it.

I'm glad my kids got to see it last year. Hopefully they keep the Barnstormer. My kids rode it so much, they were issued frequent flyer cards by the cast members.

They are keeping the Barnstormer--it's getting a re-theme to fit w/ the circus theme--gonna be in the same area as the doubled Dumbo(also in the circus area). So far, this has not changed. But they haven't mentioned anything new for a while.

Not necessarily. It's nothing more than exactly what they used as a guide for what type ticket you needed for the ride. Though I will agree that it was far more ahead of its time than just going with "****y", "Less ****y", "Slightly Better", "OK," and "Good".

yeh that pretty much sums up the system as simply and honestly as possible... but the question remains... did it work...? are we fully aware that an "A" ticket attraction isnt even worth the time it takes to walk to it, and a they should pay you to ride a "B" ticket... "C" is at least good for the children and "D" might be worth your while, but we are all striving to encounter the coveted "E" ticket ride that will make your face flap or your heart jump outta your chest...

Yep. And that sums up "It's a Small World" pretty well, huh? Stupid Disney.

I have never considered Small World one myself. Slick piece of work in bumping it up into one.

What's odd, or perhaps not, is that two of the more popular Fantasyland attractions, Dumbo and Peter Pan, were both C-tickets. Peter Pan seperates itself from other C-ticket rides like Snow White and Mr. Toad because of the unique overhead track. Still, Dumbo is as basic a carnival ride as you can get.

But then again... perhaps Small World was only ever an E as a placeholder until they could bring in Matterhorn Mk. II by the Fantasyland Skyway station. Once done, you take away Small World's E-ticket and give it to the New Boy, meaning that 20,000 Leagues and the Matterhorn would comprise that land's Es.

    Just a theory.

Would the Matterhorn be too crowded in that corner? Not that I'd be against shortening that way-too-long sorry excuse for a boat ride they've got there now.

Re: Mickey's Toontown Fair closing on February 11, 2011

I have no idea, but I was always under the (perhaps incorrect) assumption that the Matterhorn had originally been slated for the western side of Fantasyland - slipping in beside the "Chocolate Box" Swiss facades and the similarly-designed Skyway uplift station - for some time after Phase 1, perhaps a future addition after Marc Davis' Western River Expedition.

It would be good to be put straight on this by someone who knows better if that is in fact wrong.

Purely academic now of course, for as we have done to death on here before, the building of Everest killed any hope for the Matterhorn in Florida.

isnt that just unfortunate that EE ended any chance of the Matterhorn... or more so that they put it in AK...?

it could have... or maybe Fantasyland is just a complete and utter Disney fantasy... one in which tracked boat rides watching tiny cabbage patch dolls repeat a truly annoying song is considered "E ticket" quality... keep dreaming...
